I became intrigued by the character of Severus Snape as soon as I realized that he was not after the Stone at the end of the first book. (Protecting any student, especially one you disapprove of in principle, is a noble act. Especially if you make yourself /more/unpopular in the process.)

I am well aware that J. K. Rowling wrote him to be a terrible person, based in part on her own insufferable git of an actual teacher... That teacher probably had redeeming qualities too.

Potions is a difficult subject. Sort of a cross between chemistry and cooking. (And mixing ceramic glazes) I imagine the consequences of accidents or goofing off could be terrible. Strict discipline is one way to prevent mishaps.

Then again, maybe I just have this thing for teachers...

It is a good thing that I can stare and fantasize while taking notes... Sigh.

If I ever finish Inverted Enemy, I will most likely do a few Draco/Ginny stories, since that is what I have been reading.
