![]() Author has written 13 stories for Mega Man, Metal Gear, Warcraft, Star Wars, Portal, Legend of Zelda, Batman, and Star Wars. Age: 30 A NOTE ON FAN FICTION Fan Fiction is a medium that, I feel, is too often pulled down into self-indulgence and poor writing habits. I find that many authors are only interested in placing themselves as a proxy character in a universe they didn't create, or placing established characters in an unusual setting that they think is interesting or funny. And Fan Fiction is beautiful because it allows anyone, regardless of writing skill or education, the opportunity to play with any characters they want in any world they want. I applaud the fact that writers can do this, and love to see people having fun and taking liberties when they think it is interesting. However, I don't think that these practices generally lend themselves to writing good stories. On the flip side though, Fan Fiction can afford authors the opportunity to write stories that their readers will connect with on a very deep level. This is because readers already have a strong fascination with the universes in question. If an author can take this fascination and mold it into something new, something written around the original source material (not in place of, or in spite of), and can breathe these characters to life believably, show them tackling some new obstacle, or learning things about their world and relationships that they didn't know, then you have the makings of a good story. When I write for this site, I always try to make sure that my stories conform to these guidelines. My stories will never alter or replace canon, but they will work alongside it, nestled in with the source material in a way that fits. My stories will never allow established characters to behave in drastically unusual ways, or to gratuitously fall in love with an undeveloped OC. Along those same lines, my stories will never include an OC who is the "greatest _ that ever _ed". All characters have flaws, and it's the process of working through those flaws that make their adventures interesting. Finally, my stories will be held to high standards of grammar and articulation. They will be clear, coherent, and easy to read. This is my promise to you, reader who has stumbled onto my profile. Know that regardless of which story below that you choose, I have put forth my best effort to adhere to all the criteria above, and I have done my utmost to ensure you an enjoyable and exciting reading experience. Thanks for stopping in. Now, let's get reading! |
