From silent darkness
The notes that glow,

The sounds of thoughtful voices,
Of laughter, of shouts,
Of the music that stirs souls,
Of the cries chanted by crowds,

The deafening roar of the battlefield,
The delicate pitch of the soprano,
The solemn voice taking an oath,
The haunting echo of an organ, loud,

Each noise, each faint gasp,
Even the din of bustling people around,
Pierces the dark silence with shades of color,
Their own shades of sound.
