The first time I really started dabbling in writing anything outside of school papers and the like was around the time I was in high school. A lot of what I was writing was based on movies, books, and other stories that I liked. It was pretty much a way to keep myself occupied whenever I had some down time. Most of the stuff I wrote back then never really got read by anyone else.

Somewhere along the way, these early stories were pretty much lost (or thrown away). I eventually joined up with an online role-playing community that did creative writing set in the Star Trek universe. The experiences I had over the course of six years really helped me develop my own writing style and flesh out some of the more rudimentary techniques I had been using. My joining FanFiction.net is an effort to get back to creative writing and to reclaim some of the fun I had writing with the role-playing community.
