Stories I'm writing and their status

Operation: Get Rekt, Get Out (will be renamed when rewritten):

This story is going to get rewritten completely, the only thing that's going to stay the same is the Spirit of Fire coming to the A Song of Ice and Fire universe in the story. I'll leave the story I have up at the moment until I have something better.

After a long wait, I have now begun to rewrite my story from scratch. but it will still be quite a while before I update. When I do, it'll be with several chapters to follow. I don't expect to release any chapters until the current arc is finished.

The story will be written as self-contained story arcs, just in case I stop writing for some reason, it hasn't been left on a cliff hanger/unsatisfactory midpoint. Each arc may vary, but should cover 3-4 chapters at least and will be released simultaneously. Considering how long it's taken me to write this first arc, it may be months, maybe even a year before the next arc will be released.

The first story arc will cover UNSC arrival to Westeros and establishing relations with the locals, will include one battle. Going to be approximately 8 chapters. It's been a long time since I said I'd update, but I'm trying to nail the culture clash properly and not skip to the result.

Main points that are causing a delay in finishing this arc are:

Biggest dilemma has been deciding why the UNSC should come to the game of thrones world, where and how they do first contact. Connecting the time lines between Halo and ASOIAF and maintaining it. Not for the sake of the story necessarily, it's just a thing that'll bug me if I don't. Explore culture clash thoroughly between both universes. Creating OC characters for the Spirit of Fire crew and some for ASOIAF, which is proving very tricky as each have to be different enough that you, the audience, can distinguish them apart. Rewriting some parts of the lore of both universes in way that makes sense such as magic and forerunner. This might include parts of the Halo wars and some of the book stuff as it doesn't make sense sometimes. Creating interesting conflicts between factions and characters and not pander/favour any factions but not cripple any for the sake of balance on purpose either. Sure the UNSC seems like it should triumph with no problems, but they have laws, morals and limited resources that will hold them back. Thinking of a way to end the story at a point where it can be continued, or end there.

Chapter 1 - 8673 words. Chapter Completed. (03/02/2018) It is very much a situation report chapter as well as introducing new characters.

Chapter 2 - 7228 words. Chapter being partly rewritten. (13/02/2018)

Chapter 3 - 8157 words. Chapter being partly rewritten. (21/08/2017)

Chapter 4 - 5478 words. Chapter being partly rewritten. (13/11/17)

Timeline on the story will be focusing on:

24 Oct 298 AC (ASOIAF) - Ned's failed coup/capture = 25th Feb 2531, Sun supernova in Halo wars

Story starts: ASOIAF 2nd December, North is currently calling its banners = Mystery signal on the 5th April (around 38 days after the ending of Halo Wars)

Latest update

So September has rolled around, and I am almost done with my personal business which gives me time to work on the story, which has been both good and bad. Good news are that I have decided on a few solid milestones, expanded on some of the stuff I want to include, bad news is a lot of editing of previous chapters. A Lot. *SIGH*

Six months later...

Oh how time passes so quickly, yet I keep finding more inspiration of ideas that I want to incorporate the story, yet I need to do more research. I also keep finding other culture clash fics that only generate more ideas. Now they have made my story seem absolutely terrible, and out comes the editing knife, to carve away at all my work.
