About me: -I'm obsessed with Harry Potter :D -I love reading -My real name is Sophie -I am a Gryffindor on Pottermore, but previously thought I was a Hufflepuff -Other books that I love are: The 'Swallows and Amazons' series (Arthur Ransome); 'The Hobbit' (JRRTolkien); and 'The Wee Free Men', 'A Hat Full of Sky', 'The Wintersmith' and 'I shall wear Midnight' (Terry Pratchett). -I also love Doctor Who and BBC Sherlock :D According to this website () I am like Albus Dumbledore :D Things that annoy me in fanfiction: 1. This makes me seem really hypocritical... I dislike fics that have long gaps between updates. Sorry! :S I'm impatient, but this also means I get bored of writing and I fail to finish something before I start uploading :P sorry guys! 2. Bad grammar and spelling and stuff. I don't mind stupid typos, but if a fic is full of bad grammar it makes me annoyed... sorry :P 3. Making stuff up when there is evidence that it does not exist in canon. Do your research! Wards and Glamours do not exist in HP, to change your appearance you either take Polyjuice potion or use transfiguration. Harry's protection was a powerful charm, not a ward. 4. Hogwarts letters. I will only say this once. They do not arrive on their 11th birthday. 5. Harmony (Harry/Hermione). To me, this pairing is just ewww! Harry and Hermione are like brother and sister, it's wrong! The only time when this is acceptable is if it is an AU where Harry has a different childhood (say he lives with the Weasleys and sees Ginny as a sister.) 6. Bashing. Only acceptable if it is canon, and unless I'm being blind, the characters aren't bashed in canon. Just like no one is perfect, no one is completely evil/spiteful/mean. Dumbledore is not manipulative... ok maybe a bit, but not in a bad way, and he kept stuff from Harry because he cared for him, he felt that Harry had the right to a childhood without the burden of knowing that one day he would either become a killer or be killed. Think about it. Any of you have younger siblings? cousins? children? Would you tell them that their parents had been killed because of a prophecy made about them being taken the wrong way? Would you tell them that they one day had to kill someone? There's a saying I heard somewhere: "Fools live to regret their words, wise men to regret their silences." People make mistakes, but it's a mark of the love that they show for other people that they admit these mistakes and are willing to accept all blame and punishment, and a mark of how they are loved in return that they are forgiven. Yeah, Ron abandoned Hermione and Harry, but he was a hormonal teenager, badly affected by the locket, and not used to lack of food or sleep. He made a mistake, but Harry and Hermione forgave him. The same goes for Percy. Don't be so quick to judge people on one mistake they may have made. I recomend that you read 'A pawn to his manipulations.' I can't remember who it's by, but I've favourited it. Possibly my favourite fic ever is "The Real Memory" I love Selfless!Harry so much :D read it :) |
