![]() Author has written 14 stories for NCIS, Dark Blue, Nikita, Flashpoint, and Hunger Games. About My Fanfiction (obsolete for the most part)
I stopped writing fanfiction when I picked up the hobbies of role-playing and vidding, aside from a couple of attempts for some other shows I got into over the years. Then I found Flashpoint and gained a new obsession. I sped through seasons 1-4 on Netflix and then, when I ran out of episodes, I turned to fanfiction. I read some of the ones that were out there, liked what I saw, and decided to try my hand at it. Writing it became somewhat addicting and is making the wait for season 5 so much more bearable for me. Plus I've always been an avid reader, and finding a fandom with lots of talented writers to take inspiration from is refreshing, to say the least. So...yeah. Anything I say about how I write would probably be rendered obsolete next month. I like to experiment. Sometimes I focus on actions, sometimes I read something mind-blowing like Shiggity Shwa's Just-World Fallacy and want to work on a descriptive writing exercise. A lot of the time, it really depends on my mood. My mood and the music I happen to be listening to at the time I have Word up and running can conspire in mysterious ways sometimes. Like blow up some of my favorite fictional characters ever mysterious ways. See Siberia for reference. I love the whole show and appreciate what every character brings to the table (Raf, Leah, and Donna somewhat less because they have yet to really reach family status to me), but in the mysterious and onerous place that is my brain, I'd love it if the Braddock siblings ended up with Jules and Spike. I like Natalie. Past mistakes aside, I'd like to see her succeed in life. I'd also like to see Spike happy. Every time they focus on Spike, they seem to be dealing him some kind of whomp either of the mental/emotional or the physical variety. And they are so freaking cute together... And so, as I ship Sam and Jules hard, that little Flashpoint subset has a special piece of my heart. You can be sure you'll see them in any post-Slow Burn stories, and you shouldn't be surprised if I try to wiggle them into other points if it's at all plausible. I like plausibility. Even if I decide to stretch things, I never leave the realm of possibility. Plus, it forces me to work towards the desired outcome I have in mind. Sometimes while I'm working toward that outcome, I decide to take a different path toward a different outcome. Kind of like I'm doing right now... I can easily go off on a tangent and ramble about this or that even if I have my filter on high, and it is set very high right now. I'll probably come back and edit this later, but, in the meantime, I'm on Twitter (@playergurl89) trying to be witty. Catch ya on the flip-side. P.S. Don't think I mentioned this before but the only reason I checked out Flashpoint was because I learned Amy Jo Johnson was on it and I've loved her since her Power Ranger days. She's awesome. So's the show. But she is awesome. I mean, really, almost 2 decades later and her presence is enough to spark my interest in what I didn't realize beforehand was a great show? NOW If I had my way, I'd read and write fan fiction day in and day out. Unfortunately, I gots ta be a grown up which takes up more time than I would like sometimes. Finding a balance between work and play is a constant struggle for me. However, when I get struck by inspiration as I have been since my Divergence/Hunger Games read-a-thon I roll with it. And now I write again. It's easier for me than reading because when I read I like to write long-winded reviews, or at least reviews that show my appreciation of the time the writer took to write something I enjoyed. |
