Jack dies after Pitch breaks his staff in Antarctica. Losing their battle as a result, the Guardians are defeated for good by Pitch and for years wait for help to arrive. Eventually it does, in the form of Jack's reincarnation, but this new 'Jack' is rather different and will take quite a bit of convincing... T for language and character death (though it doesn't last).
