Okay, I just had to tell all my readers this, in case they ever want to talk to me.

My favorite episode of NCIS (which I've watched since I was 8) is Truth or Consequences. It is so utterly well done: this is the first episode I've ever watched live, first of all. I was eight, and excited.

Let's talk about the beginning: Saleem Ulman walking, the moment we all went, Yes, we've seen this before, why are you showing us again? He's about to interrogate Ziva?, and the camera turns, and it's Tony sitting there, and we think, what? Wait, what?

*theme song plays*

The way they weave in what's happened in the past summer for Tony and the team is flawless: it's funny (Tony and McGee's banter), a great way to introduce the team in a super badass way (to a terrorist in the middle of the desert, in the style a movie trailer would--thanks, Tony), and it shows how done Tony is. It shows how desperate he was and is because Ziva, he believes, is dead.

Then whoosh, someone with a black bag over their head gets dragged into the room, and it's Ziva. And yes, they have that famous, beautiful conversation; and yes, we see how lost Ziva is. Then bang, ... "Let's go home."

It was such a well done episode.

On another note, my favorite episode of Sherlock is A Scandal in Belgravia. First, it relieves that cliffhanger from the first season (how brilliant was that cliffhanger?) with a few bars of Stayin' Alive.

Second: Irene Adler. What more can a Sherlock fan hope for? The scenes where she has Sherlock absolutely baffled, tricked, and beaten; then she herself is beaten with sentiment. I love it--Irene's drug and deduction scene, the way Sherlock is completely enamored with her, and how the feeling is mutual.

Benedict and Lara's performances were so raw, intense, and perfect. And the soundtrack! It perfectly captured the emotions of the two, of their game, and how the two blurred together. Blended in wonderfully with the "I am SHERLOCKED" scene: the most beautiful scene in the entire episode, I have to say, other than her deduction scene, outsmarting Sherlock.

"Oh, shush, now. I'll do the talking. So the car's about to backfire, and the hiker, he's staring at the sky. Now, you said he could be watching birds, but he wasn't, was he? He was watching another flying thing. The car backfires, and the hiker turns to look...which was his big mistake. By the time the driver looks up, the hiker's already dead. What he doesn't see is what killed him...because it's already being washed away downstream. An accomplished sportsman recently returned from foreign travel with...a boomerang. You got that from one look? Definitely the new sexy."

"But sentiment...sentiment is a chemical defect found in the losing side."

"Because I took your pulse."

"This is your heart, and you should never let it rule over your head...I've always assumed that love was a dangerous disadvantage. Thank you for the final proof."

coming back to her: Post final battle two-parter, Shinichi is broken, scarred, and haunted. Ran helps him through the pain. ShinRan angst with a kind of happy ending.
