I am normally not the sort of person to write "fanfic", and am a bit older than the rest of you. I had, for some years, been planning on writing a story named "Lily Was Here" ( http://www.fictionpress.net/read.php?storyid=1289317 ) with characters inspired loosely by Tolkien's. (Frodo, Sam, Elanor, and Galadriel.) It is set during the time of the Crusades and the 30th century. (Check it out.) September 11 made me put it on hold, as part of it is set in New York. (Stands in for Tolkien's Valinor.) I also wrote stories inspired by Lord of the Rings here, thought I was writing mostly for children (so I told myself,) but I really got into it (so embarrassed.) ;).
