Random Bio Stuff That No One Will Read:
Name: Just call me 'Nessa
Age: 21 last time I checked...
Sex: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual (a whole world full of 'YES' snickers)(although if you go by the standards that you can only be bisexual if you've actually DONE something with both sexes, I'd be merely straight. /But/ the only offer I've gotten from a female involved a threesome with my ex-boyfriend who I didn't have sex with the first time around for a /reason/, so you can't really blame me, right?)
As for the rest...well, anything not involving fan fiction doesn't really concern you, does it?
Fanfiction Fetishes:
I will admit to having a few...preferences when it comes to reading fanfiction. First and foremost, I am a main-character slut. If a book/movie/comic/anime/manga/game/etc has a main character, they're my baby. I don't particularly want to read stories about anyone else, with very few exceptions. The only true deviance from this rule I can think of is for Yami no Matsuei. Tzusuki is not my favourite character, Hisoka is. Don't ask me why. Of course, if there's no real main character, I just take my pic of the litter. :P (cough Duo Maxwell)
Secondly, I have a serious weakness for the Sorceress/Knight style relationship. Anyone played Final Fantasy VIII? The way it works is the Sorceress /does/ stuff, while the Knight /protects/ them. I've always thought that was kind of romantic. You don't have one-sided relationships, where the someone does all the heroic stuff while conveniently saving the damsel in distress at the same time. Here, if there's a damsel in distress, it IS the hero . That way the other person gets to feel useful from time to time. This goes for same-sex relationships too, in case you were wondering.
Thirdly, I have preferences on how my main character is paired up. If the main character is female then let her have male or female, it doesn't matter to me as long as I like the other character (though for some reason, female/female is pretty rare in most fandoms. cries I wonder why...). Males however...as a general rule, if the male is the main character I don't like the female characters. They get on my nerves .;. So if the main character is male, I tend to like them with males. There are exceptions. Quistis, from Final Fantasy VIII for instance, is a kick-ass female character. Quistis can have Squall any day...provided Seifer is unavailable of course. :P
Fourthly, no matter which gender my fav is, I tend to get bored quickly with the most common pairing. Heero x Duo from Gundam Wing is cute enough I guess, if you've got nothing else to read, but I LOVE Trowa x Duo, and Wufei x Duo or Zechs x Duo are pretty good too. (Incidentally, Trowa x Quatre makes me gag)
Lastly, I have noted that I like to read stories where my favourites are paired with...lesser evils, I suppose you could call them. The villains that aren't TRULY the behind all the evil schemes, just the ones you encounter on a regular basis. Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, for instance. Not really the instigator of the madness, but a pawn of Jenova, and the fellow you'll encounter most often (excluding Reno and Rude .;...and Don Corneo shudders)
Or Xelloss from Slayers. High Priest of Beast-sama, so not really the big bad, but Lina travels with him for a whole freaking season, and damn do I like them together.
Fanfiction Pet Peeves (aka Poorly Disguised Rants)- General:
Biggest of all evils is... Original characters that supercede the fandom characters in importance! I do not CARE if your character has had a horrible past, or has unusually coloured eyes to go with their charmingly unique name. I read fanfiction to read about the characters I have become fans of. AKA not yours. If I wanted to read something original, I'd go read a published author. Anything that can be done with an original character can be done with a fandom character simply by making AU, which you have already done by adding an OC. If you can't do it with /any/ of the fandom characters even in an AU because it wouldn't be believable, your character is probably a dreaded Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu and worthy of death by draw-and-quartering anyway. People who write in original characters for the sake of writing original characters are people who are trying to disguise self-inserts. Badly.
Lesser, but just as annoying evils:
-fandom character/YOU stories. No, I'm not talking about the author. I'm talking about you, the reader. Taken a look at the Pirates of the Caribbean fan section lately? Totally overrun by stories in which YOU, though you didn't know it, have dropped onto the Black Pearl and are now leading a life of adventure on the high seas in the arms of Captain Jack Sparrow. Or Will Turner. Take your pick (and sadly, you really can). The only books that use this second person removed Point of View are Pick-Your-Own-Adventure books. Which are written for children, oddly enough. The only people who can appreciate that level of conscious self-delusion enough to enjoy it. (Note I said conscious. Plenty of adults out there delude themselves, I don't deny that. But as a general rule, they believe they aren't.)
-I'm not even going to rant about Mary Sue/Gary Stu. It goes without saying.
Fanfiction Pet Peeves (Poorly Disguised Rants) - Specific:
-a weak and fragile Will Turner. The man is a freaking BLACKSMITH people! He's not 'delicate' anything. Bleh.
-a stupid and hyper (note I said stupid AND hyper. I dont mind if he's hyper and intelligent) Duo Maxwell. Gundam pilot. Duh.
-rampant female-char bashing done by yaoi writers. I admit, I often don't like those female characters myself, but to twist the way they have been written simply to suit your own perceptions is...well, if not poor writing, it makes for poor reading.
Well...that's all I can think of for now...Anyways! I like many (and I do mean many) fandoms, which means there's always /something/ enjoyable to read, but my interest in most of these fandoms waxes and wanes frequently. However, there are a few pairings I'm always willing to sit down for, even after all this time.
