![]() Author has written 52 stories for Laramie, and Wagon Train. I was born in New York City, moved to Queens at five, New Jersey at 10, and now live outside Scranton, PA. But I've always thought of myself as a "spiritual Westerner;" being a Baby Boomer, I was weaned on Westerns, and my earliest TV memories are of The Lone Ranger and The Adventures of Rin-Tin-Tin. When I was about 10 my grandfather introduced me to Gunsmoke, and I was lost forever. I've been writing fanfic since 1977 (or was it '78?) when I began with STAR WARS. I've also written in SIMON & SIMON, RIPTIDE, MAGNUM PI, GUNSMOKE, CIMARRON STRIP, THE FRISCO KID, QUANTUM LEAP, INDIANA JONES, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, and EARLY EDITION. Most recently I've gone mad for LARAMIE, which is mostly what you'll find here. (Other things may follow eventually, but right now LARAMIE's what I'm writing.) I'm fascinated by social history--not what happened when so much as how people lived. What were their houses like, their clothes, their guns, their horse gear? What codes did they follow? How did they do their work, obtain land, do things like courtship, celebrate holidays? What did they read? Eat? I put a lot of this into my fics, because I believe an author--even an author of fiction--has an obligation to leave her readers knowing more than they did when they came in. (Of course, telling a good story in important too! But you have to try to be true to the setting.) Besides old Westerns (my favorite actors, besides John Smith and Robert Fuller, are probably Joel McCrea, Randolph Scott, Audie Murphy, and John Wayne, and of "glitter" cowboys Roy Rogers rules!), my interests include horses, cats (I live with a tuxedo named Simon), wild nature, American Indians, pre-Industrial life (Europe and other non-American places), New Age stuff, domestic architecture and furnishings, popular culture (now and then), graphic art (notably Prince Valiant, Pogo, Li'l Abner, and the work of Stan Lynde), and a lot of other things that I'm probably forgetting; about all I won't read is hard science and most romance. For those who might want to read my LARAMIE pieces in the order of their occurrence, here's a list, which I'll update as indicated: Pre-series:
