Author has written 7 stories for X-Files. Hello,I'm Genie E. Van Boeyen (GenieVB), born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and have been passionately writing stories since the tender age of ten. I began this passion, believe it or not, writing Star Trek poetry! Yes even back then I was a fanfic-er. Star Trek poetry for myself and friends lead to simple stories on many themes and later, fanfiction for Fanzines, the most prevalent (from 1992 to 1994) Skylarking Digest of Vancouver, B.C., a Star Trek quarterly, the love-child of Lois. R.H. Balzer (Editor) and Cathy Mayo (Ass. Editor). Along with their invaluable advice and encouragement, I went from producing some VERY rough work to more polished material. In between, I've had some extremely limited success publishing poetry and children's short stories for local newspapers and obscure magazines that have for the most part, gone by the wayside. Then, in 1995, I met my future husband who was a computer buff and, soon after, an Internet buff. Being a PC newbie, it took me a while but eventually I discovered Internet fanfiction (June '98!) and the rest is, as they say, history! With four novel lengths and ten short stories completed in the last year, the universe of Internet fandoms and fiction has for me opened up a whole new I am, when I am not online, a wife, a caretaker of five cats and an writer whose passion is children's books, but not just any sort of books. Rather, I am devoted to my specialties, novel length fairy tales/adventures and short-story collections. Alas, no publisher has taken me on at this writing, but with hard work, it is my dream, my hope, my fondest wish to share these stories with others. I am 35, a civil employee with the Calgary Transportation Department and attend school part time in order to eventually achieve my other ambition, that of gaining a Masters Degree in English.
