*SPOILERS FOR EMPTY HEARSE* Right after the events of Empty Hearse, John, when dropping by 221B, accidentally sees the still-healing injuries from Sherlock's torture session. John Watson woke up in the dark with a headache, the taste of sweetened copper in his mouth, and Sherlock snarling threats in his left ear.

He can sit in that lab on his own, for all she cares; Molly's going out. Sherlock doesn't get to ruin another night for her. On the contrary, he only wants to help...

After the wedding revelations, Sherlock takes the only sensible recourse…he breaks into his brother's house and eats all his ice cream. Mycroft is surprisingly helpful. (Spoilers for 3x02 – the Sign of Three.)
