When Sherlock gets devastating news that his father has passed away, he gets the sudden urge and desire to be home, at any cost. He gets pulled over for speeding through a red light by a young Sergeant Gregory Lestrade who stays until someone can come get him.

A 16 year old Sherlock Holmes wakes up in a hospital room with no memory of his past or how he got there. Is it a conspiracy, or is he genuinely ill? Warnings for references to mental illness and abuse.

It's just… he's never explained this to anyone. He's never attempted to because it didn't need quantifying or modifying or cataloguing before now – it just was, and now it just isn't, and John's cut loose and at a loss of what to tell people. Sherlock's gone and everyone is silently asking him what, exactly, he has lost.

When Sherlock has to be rushed to the hospital after an incident on a crime scene, John's left wondering if he's ever going to stop fearing for the man's life. Nothing will never be the same again as they are both thrust into the world of learning to heal. The doctors had said there would likely be memory problems but this is far beyond what either of them would have ever expected.
