Had Zidane escaped on that night twelve years ago, he could have had a family and a life among a gang of thieves. Instead, he finds the future fate demanded. Caught between his domineering creator and a creation that would take freedom at any cost, Zidane must find a way to save the world he's meant to destroy, even as a certain princess jeopardizes his only hope for salvation.

After four years, Zidane has returned - but not alone. Kuja is with him, but trapped in silence. Zidane must tell Kuja's story or watch him face inevitable justice. As it turns out, Kuja's story is like nothing they ever imagined... "You are in pain – a pain you do not even understand. The agony consumes you. Do you enjoy this feeling? Do you enjoy suffering as the Gaians suffer?"

Kuja came to awareness as though waking from a deep sleep. He was a mistake, a defect, a failure. Unique. He wants freedom, independence, and the power to reinforce them both. He will embark on the greatest tragic irony the world has ever known, and it will all begin with that one, first question, "Who am I?" (Finished. Zidane did wonder how easily Kuja and himself could have switched places, given only slightly different circumstances.

Beatrix felt as if she was entering a waltz with evil. A dance she did not know the steps to. The only thing she could do was follow as he lead her through the motions until the end or until she could find a way to make him stumble.

Charged guilty for war crimes, Kuja and Garnet have one last, not-so-heartfelt conversation before his scheduled execution. One-shot.
