What if Carol took Rick's invitation for people to leave if they didn't like his leadership? And Daryl just couldn't let her go alone...

"Axel," Glenn started, "You've been following Carol around like a shadow. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't annoy the extremely protective guy with a crossbow permanently attached to his arm." Glenn and Carl take it upon themselves to have a friendly discussion with Axel. This story will be told from the POV of several characters, but with eventual Carol/Daryl.

Merle reflects on seeing Daryl's scars.

He makes his way back to the prison, Merle at his back. And its the scars that lay heavy between them. Its the scars that make him stand up to the only person who should have saved him.

This is a continuation of the Unexpected Allies Merle and Sophia story with a romantic focus on Daryl and Carol, and how Merle and Sophia might help those two crazy "kids" finally get over their respective issues and get together and fall in love. I've rated it T, but I want to mention that there ARE swears in this story. If you feel an M rating is more appropriate, please say so.

As she drew closer the red cherry of his cigarette flared dully in the dark. "Wondered when ya'd get here, woman," he said, exhaling the smoke into the warm night air. "Thought ya might not be comin'." Andrea stared at him through the darkness. "Just shut your mouth and get those pants off, Dixon." Was one-shot smut with a twist, now something more. Graphic sex, swearing. Complete.

The group comes back from the rescue at Woodbury - without Daryl. And Carol shoulders on, in the wake of her despair.

To hell if he was gonna leave Merle again. No matter how much he didn't want to. Blood was blood. Hinted Caryl.

In the aftermath of the Woodbury invasion, Daryl deals with his loss. And Carol is there for him, keeping her promise. Caryl.

It happened in a flash. One minute they were safe, discussing how they were going to take down the Governor. And then next, she was gone. Taken. Lost. And he felt like somebody had torn him apart. He didn't know what to do, where to go, how to think. All he knew was that she had to be safe. That he had to get her back. Maryl.

My first fanfic... a story focusing on Daryl and Carol and how they grow and evolve within the context of themselves, their relationship, and the group. Other characters will be developed collaterally through what Daryl and Carol see, hear, and think.

What if Sophia wasn't in that barn? What if the group never found her before leaving the farm? What if instead Sophia happened upon a very unlikely ally, Merle Dixon, and the two had no choice but to rely upon eachother as they searched for the group.
