Clint hasn't been the same since everyone went their separate ways after the battle in New York. He keeps telling everyone he's fine, but Natasha doesn't believe her partner for one second. Turns out Fury is just as concerned and decides to send his two master assassins on what should be a simple assignment, but when has anything ever been simple?

Budapest. She remembers it as a hot fiery hell, with sweat bleeding into their skin as they pelted alongside a building, rappelling down the side as bullets spewed after them. He remembers it as a cold icy haze, with enemies at each turn, hounding their back until there was nowhere to go but to free fall into a shallow pool at least thirty floors below. Fucking Budapest.

A simple clean up job gets more than a little complicated, and three hours in, it becomes pretty clear that Budapest is no piece of cake.

Set immediately post-movie. Clint has a debt to pay, one that's soaked in blue and alive with guilt. A serious take on the aftermath of the movie, implicitly realistic. Or in Clint's case, dealing with a lack of it. Luckily for him, a certain team won't seem to leave him alone while he does so.

Trying to extricate themselves from a situation, Clint ruins Natasha's Versace dress. She is not pleased.

They are children – hopeless, broken, weak children, because they cannot stop what they feel.

It's her turn to save him, and she's not screwing it up. Set during and after the movie.

In which they bond over booze, names, and a mild disrespect for authority. Maybe just a smidge AU, and a sprinkling of profanity.
