This is a follow-on to the TOS episode 'Errand of Mercy' – non-AU this time, I promise. The Organians may have put a stop to the fleet-wide Federation/Klingon war, but what if a day later Kirk and Kor were thrust together in a life-or-death situation? Would the two be able to transcend their differences and work together to survive?

That familiar formula: Kirk, Bones, and Spock beam down to a planet to check it out, get captured, and Kirk tries to charm their way out of trouble by appealing to the female population. This is a short scene that speculates about Spock's first time witnessing Captain Kirk's method of getting out of danger, and how Kirk, Bones, and Spock became friends.

Spock was nearly forced by the Platonians to be an instrument of harm to his captain. Soon after, Spock thought the captain was dead, trapped between dimensions as the Tholians closed in on the Enterprise, because of Spock's error. These events aren't as easy to get over as Spock pretends, but he should have known he couldn't hide from his captain.

A short introspective piece from Kirk's POV inspired by my first watching of "The Empath" a few weeks ago. This episode wasn't shown in the UK until 1994 because the BBC were concerned about 'scenes of torture'. An angst fest for Kirk fans.

This is another bit of Kirk angst, this time set just after "The Enemy Within". What would it be like to face your dark side? No, think about it, what would it really be like? There had to be more fallout between Kirk and Spock in the wake of Amok Time than we ever saw on screen. After all, one isn't almost strangled to death – or almost strangles someone to death – without repercussions, right? What happened later, when each had time to really think about what had transpired? Each would have their own hurdles and emotional baggage to overcome.

The question that remains is how did something like that end up on the list of pranks that the Captain of the Enterprise had pulled in his youth?
