With the unexpected arrival of Bones' ex-wife, Kirk realizes he's not the only person vying for the doctor's attention. A prank kiss reveals hidden desires and tests the boundaries of their friendship.

After a mission goes wrong, Kirk must deal with a de-aged Spock and fight to keep them both alive. Spock grows attached and begins to worry that he won't remember his time with Kirk once he's changed back.

Bones slides his forearms through the bars and leans his forehead against the iron, hair mussed, crooked smile full of dirty possibilities. "Aw, pookey, could just say ya missed us."

A mission gone wrong puts Jim at the wrong end of alien observation, helpless and defenseless. After his rescue, he slowly starts to recover, until one unrealized part of the Antosians' handiwork turns his life upside down and threatens to destroy him.

When a withdrawn and clearly grieving James Kirk returns from leave, his friends worry, until one of them finally steps in to listen to his story and to help him heal. K&S friendship. R&R please!

You can take the daredevil out of Iowa, but you can't ever take the driving-off-cliffs out of James T. Kirk, as the unfortunate crew of the Enterprise soon learns.

Bones said, "Ya know that story? The one where Pike meets Kirk and there's mentoring and bonding and they tiptoe through the tulips together into happily ever? Well, this ain't it. Idiot." Kirk/McCoy, but Kirk/Pike at the beginning. Complete!

The burden of a leader isn't the strain of heroics or the power of command. It's the constant knowledge that the lives of your crew are in your hands, and the weight of guilt and loss when those lives slip through your fingers. Kirk understands this now.

When a training simulation uncovers something that Cadet Kirk was never meant to remember, it breaks him. McCoy can't sit by and watch Jim crumble. When asked what he's willing to do to get the old Jim back, Leonard has only one answer. "Anything."

Captain Kirk has a garden. Like Kirk, there's more to his garden than his crew might imagine.

Pike wasn't supposed to be in Iowa, but there he was, weighing his future against scales that would never balance. Kirk had given up on his future long ago. McCoy's past had been pulled out from underneath him. Paths converge in the least likely places.
