This event ripples across the pages of history books in the Leaf, and Team 9 is intent to show how to turn the tide of destiny.

Team 7's failure to pass the first stage of the Chunin exams leads to the fabled Sharingan slipping through Orochimaru's fingers, prompting the Snake Sannin to mark Hinata Hyuuga with the cursed seal. While Team 7 attempt to make up for not advancing to the next stage, Hinata has to deal with the consequences of bearing Orochimaru's mark.

One visit, that's all it takes to change a tale. Watch Naruto as one day a visit to the Hokage changes his entire life, but is it for the better? Kakashi was a bit late to fill out a bit of paperwork, and Tetsuo manages to keep Naruto as his student and gain that year's Rookie of the Year and Top Kunoichi. With what he sees as a potential dream team, or at least one that won't drag Naruto down, he decides to prepare them for the Winter Chunin Exams that are coming up in two months.
