It had been 137 years. One hundred and thirty seven long years of regaining self-control, self-mastery, training and planning. Pitch was ready. Target: Jack Frost. A normal day turns to a tragedy; Jack agrees to go with Pitch on Jamie's behalf. Being a nightmare himself now, Pitch is out for blood and will push Jack's mental and physical limits unlike anything the boy's ever experienced before. What does this mean for the future of the Earth? How will the Guardian of Fun triumph when all hope is lost? Can the shattered pieces be fixed?torture

Pitch swore he would get his revenge on Jack, but in his current state, he can barely keep his world alive. However, the king of nightmares has enough power to delve straight into Jack's memories, altering them to ones charged with fear. Jack hated heading home at night, especially when he was alone. For he did not fear Pitch anymore, but a far greater evil. The fear of being forgotten on this moonless night, when the Man on the Moon could not comfort him.

Jack gets caught up in a seemingly normal fight with Pitch... which turns into a battle for his life, and the light of the entire world. Pitch's relentless torture will test the boy's sanity, along with the other Guardian's. Pitch will not give up until he has what he wants... or at least until Jack breaks completely and utterly... Fire spirits and winter spirits do not mix. Fire spirits who have got a thing out for winter spirits do not bode well for winter spirits or their favourite towns.

Pitch might have been defeated, but he leaves a legacy in his nightmare sand. And unfortunately for the Guardians, there's someone out there who knows how to use it - someone who doesn't seem to like Jack Frost all that much. Jack!whump, hurt/comfort.

Jack is unusually weary and aggressive, and even his disagreements with Bunnymund have esculated from arguments to full fist fights. Can the guardian of hope look past his own ego to see the cause of his rivals behaviour?
