Stiles sits on the bed next to him and picks on a loose thread on his pajama pants. Waits a few seconds and then says, "None of this was your fault, Scott." "I know," Scott agrees, but Stiles hears 'I should've done more'. And it's bullshit. "That's bullshit, man," Stiles spits out, and looks at Scott with hard eyes.

Derek knows Stiles to an extent. He knows how he likes his coffee, and what college courses he's taking, knows he likes sugary drinks and that he abuses straws between his lips, knows the exact crease of his brow when he's focusing on something. Derek's kind of- "A stalker." Erica says, pushing him aside to get to the bagels' showcase.

Derek's hands are soft and unsure at first, fitting over his hips like he's afraid Stiles will break (him). He huffs, puts his own hands on Derek's neck and draws him in, bites his lip and soothes it with his tongue, teasing; he locks eyes with Derek and breathes out, "just fucking touch me."

Derek makes a lot of noise in bed. He gasps and curses, and he tells Stiles he'll kill him if he doesn't stop teasing, tells him that he better do something right now, or he'll get bored and leave.

"What do you want me to do?" He asks. Stiles swallows nervously, and it briefly brings Derek back to the first time they did this, when Stiles blurted out "whatever you want to? I'm really not sure what I'm supposed to say here", not fully understanding what Derek wanted from him -to obey, to be of use-.

"D'you know what feels amazing when you're sick?" He exclaims, taking Derek's empty soup bowl from his shaky grip. "A bullet through the brain?" "What? No. What the fuck, Derek. Way to be drastic." He rolls his eyes at him, putting the bowl on his bedside table. "A sponge bath. I was going to say a sponge bath."

He withholds information, and he is wrong to do so. He always is when he takes that route, he's taken it often enough to know . Especially when it regards Stiles, who doesn't have the organic predisposition to submit inside him. He's wrong, and as a result to his basic mistake, Stiles chooses to disobey. And gets taken by the Queen of All. He should've seen that one coming.

One thing is for certain: Derek has never hated himself more than he does right now. Not even after Kate and the fire, because even then he'd been just a stupid kid played by someone older, more dangerous. Right now he isn't a kid making bad decisions. Right now he is the older and more dangerous in the equation. That's where he fits.

At first Derek sees the nuances through his own power, through his own changes. Through the understanding of blood running in his veins. When he is with Stiles, every single hair on his body will stand on end. Instinct will take over, chant power and threat, claim, claim now; a steady and deafening thrumming under his skin, to the very tips of his nails.
