It was a morning like any other. Natori came to the Fujiwara's house and asked Natsume to come see his movie set with him. Unbeknownst to them, the movie set was located in a very old inn and there, a youkai awaited him.

Summer vacation is finally here and the Fujiwara couple plan a family trip for the four of them (Nyanko-sensei included) with an unexpected destination in mind.

"At night," Takashi begins carefully, "I dream of Reiko but I don't dream of memories. We are in the forest and she talks to me…" Or, wherein, Takashi learns what happened to Reiko after she died.

From the day Natsume first arrived, he was something of an enigma. Or: Natsume is singlehandedly keeping the gossip mill fueled.

Natsume Takashi is not Natsume Reiko.

"I wonder if you will become attached to me someday-" Natsume once said such words to his constant companion. When their long-ago promise is finally fulfilled, Madara realizes that those words have become truth. If Natsume could somehow be revived, what would he do? The ayakashi has always desired the Book of Friends, but could he have come to value Natsume enough to give it up?

When word of the Book of Friends somehow get out to the exorcists, a senile old god takes it upon himself to help Natsume protect the book from danger. The results of this help may be more trouble than Natsume wants to deal with.

When Takashi dies, he dies young, like his grandmother and his parents. He is eighteen years old and newly graduated from high school. He takes a year off before going to college. He loves his home far too much to abandon it so easily. When Takashi dies, he comes home. The yōkai no longer speak about Natsume Reiko.

AU- In Yokohama, Minimum Holders have two options: with Facultas or with The Family. In-between is short-lived, and the ground is always shifting. Other places don't have such generous options, so consider yourself lucky and just grin and bear it.
