Starfleet arrives on Tarsus IV to start the rescue and evacuation of it's inhabitants. Christopher Pike joins a search party to look for a group of children and is the only one who can inadvertently win over the trust of their teenage leader. Starfleet returns to earth where J.T meets the members of his future Starship crew. Christopher Pike succumbs to his parental side.

When the Klingons present evidence of the massacre on Qo'noS, Starfleet has two options: hand over the criminal known as James Kirk, or prepare for war. Post STID.

Meeting Kevin Riley again more than ten years after the mass violence on Tarsus IV was never going to be anything Kirk was looking forward to.
