Now he, and the other Avengers, have to help the Winter Soldier remember who he is (and recover from his memories), while fighting off Hydra and placating the government. Tons and buckets of angst.

Steve said he would be there to the end of the line, and he always kept his word. Even when that meant picking up the pieces of his best friend and putting them back together. Oneshot.

To the Winter Soldier, there are three kinds of people in the world: superiors, mission support, and targets. He lacks the context to understand things like friendship. So what he sees in the Smithsonian exhibit and what little he remembers or feels about his past, he interprets in that light. He thinks that Steve must have been his handler during WWII. In the midst of the Civil War, Bucky finds himself in the hands of the government and has to cling to his autonomy among those who would use him as a weapon. Meanwhile, Steve has to fight to save him before it's too late, while being brought face-to-face with the consequences of a war he doesn't wish to fight.

Steve can't believe his eyes when he finally finds Bucky . But he is stuck in a machine who seems to provocate to him excruciating pain . Steve tries to reassure him .

After fending off an insect sized adversary Sam wants to keep Steve out of it, until the time is right. (Spoilers for Ant-Man & post-credit scene for Civil War)

When a kill-switch is activated and the metal arm starts to poison him, Bucky finds himself reunited with the only person he trusts to help him. Inspired by the Ant-Man end-credits scene.
