Harry overhears a conversation between two of his teachers early into the first year at Hogwarts. What he hears makes him ponder about how he's going about his school work. He decides to take action and make his parents proud of his performance. Just how will that little change influence the events taking place at the school?

aka Harry's Revenge - After the battle Harry tries to live. But before he can advance he needs to deal with the past. How does the son of a marauder deal with a past that isn't pleasant? because the horcrux in Harry's head wasn't dealt with when he was a child, and was killed by a rather brute force method after much trauma, Harry Potter is an adult who will not live to see his 30th birthday. Reviewing all the stupid mistakes made by the adults around him, he returns in time to sort out his younger self's life, by setting in train a number of actions.

set following the pensieve incident during occlumensy, Harry has a sudden fit of the smarts and works to enlist more active aid from Snape. Unkind to Dumbledore and some Weasleys. Umbitch gets hers. Hermione has to think, and wises up. A peek at what might happen if the occasional use of logic and intellect was applied instead of hokey reasoning and blind belief in prophecy.

Vernon's reaction to having Harry dumped on the doorstep by *their kind* is predictable, and Petunia has a small epiphany over what might happen if Dudley develops magic when he is older the way Lily did. Suddenly her love for her sister is more important than her jealousy, and she takes steps to save Harry and Dudley by contacting the only person she knows in the wizarding world.

Vernon gets the smarts when accidental magic in response to a bellow breaks the compulsion to be mean to Harry. He is well sore with the magical world which is making a child soldier by grooming Harry, so he decides to turn the weapon back on them by teaching Harry all he needs to survive.

Pre-Hogwarts. Harry has been tasked with a quest by his Aunt Petunia to discover himself and who he is as well as find the school which he will be attending. It's the quiet before the storm so to speak. Harry reunites with his "Uncle" Remus Lupin, moves in with his godfather Sirius Black and becomes a Student Teacher for the new Magical Crafts and Arts program. He continues to build up his friends/family base and assists the Department of Mysteries with the mission he has tasked them to.

Harry is back for another year at Hogwarts. This year he discovers that his parents did indeed have a will, a godfather wrongly imprisoned and more meddling from a irritating headmaster. He and his friends will have to deal with an incompetent Defense teacher and the mystery of the legendary Chamber of Secrets.

Sequel to Lost Hope. If the Wizarding World thought normal would be restored following the death of Harry Potter, the House of Black has news for them. So too did the new ghost...who's kind of green.
