Eight years ago, Captain Kirk survived the events of Star Trek: Generations and is now serving as the captain of the USS Constitution in the 24th century. Meanwhile, Ambassador Spock has returned to Romulus in his continuing mission to reunite Romulus and Vulcan. Now they are brought back together when the Romulan government is overthrown in a coup (following Star Trek: Nemesis).

The Enterprise is called away from a research mission to act as representatives of the Federation and sign a trade agreement with the planet Reskar. The welcome quickly turns foul, leaving Kirk and Spock stranded on a hostile planet. Together, they work to stay alive while unraveling what this thing between them truly is, and what they are willing to do about it.

In the aftermath of the Dominion War, Saavik is asked to help the one person she truly hates. The mission will cross quadrants and take her, and everyone with her, to the shadows of Cardassia, the Romulan Empire, and Earth. Garak and other DS9 characters will also appear.
