Again it is set in 2011-2012 Manchester with a young Gene Hunt aged 18 and Alex Price at 17 being aspiring police officers as they deal with bad parenting, school bullies, cybercrime and unruly pupils who make life at North Manchester College difficult. Can he use his police cadet powers to improve things for tormented teachers?

The young Guv and his beloved girlfriend of nine years are babysitting his much younger nephews for a week, when his mum's sister Emma buggers off without any notice given and concerns start to add up. A/U set in modern 2019 Manchester with a 26 year old Gene Hunt and 23 year old Alex Price. The Gene Genie is born in 1993 like me, being 20 odd years younger than Philip Glenister.

Gene is called out to identify the body of a pregnant woman forcing him to think about his own pregnant wife.

It's been five years since Gene sent Alex into the Railway Arms and that's been far too long for them to be apart. Cue the one person that can possibly make Gene be pushed into moving on from his kingdom and into the Railway Arms with the woman he loves.

I had to rewrite of the end of 3.08, to make Galex happen as it should and also to get out of my system my feelings about Keats! Why did Alex have to die? Why did Gene have to stay in purgatory? He didn't deserve it! He deserves happiness! Either to die with Alex or for Alex to stay and help him help 'new recruits' – at least for a while. That bloody beautiful amazing show :(

This features DCI Gene Hunt on ITV's This Morning for a "Me and My Motors" interview in his childhood town of Salford Manchester where he and Sam Tyler grew up in during the Seventies at the Media City studios.
