Please do not review the first five chapters; they need heavy editing. Yes, I know the mistakes I made, believe me. Thank you. Unable to endure Broud's continued torment, Durc makes the recklass decision to leave the Clan. But what awaits him is new territory, trouble hunting, and leadership. Durc will have to deal with all these, and more, if he plans to live without the Clan.

This story was writen before Jan Auel's Sixth book came out, so it is an alternative story to hers. Ayla is firmly settled in the Ninth Cave and continues to amaze the people she comes in contact with. It climaxes when she is confronted by the leaders and accused of not having told them everything about her past.
