Shigeru and Natsume travel to Shibuya so Natsume to visit the specialist. Though while wandering Tokyo, visions flood Natsume of a past visions flood Natsume of a past abusive household; and the youkai he'd made a deal with.

Natsume gets cursed and has to be hospitalized, it's up to Tanuma to use his limited sight of youkai to find help, and Taki to search for Natori and gain his aid— in order to stop the curse before it's too late. All the while the Fujiwara's worry for Natsume's life.

When word of the Book of Friends somehow get out to the exorcists, a senile old god takes it upon himself to help Natsume protect the book from danger. The results of this help may be more trouble than Natsume wants to deal with.
