DCIs Gene Hunt and Sam Tyler are part of a Yewtree style operation on retired police officers from Greater Manchester Police's 'A' Division (now CID) in the 1970s knowing this may be the last chance to get the old bent coppers convicted of corruption within their team at the time. Meanwhile Megan is shown around her dad Gene's police station and gets to peek behind the scenes.

This takes place over three decades as Gene's little sister would be affected by her father destroying her life when she grows up to be a forensics analyist. It affects the Guv deeply all those years later when DCI Sam Tyler learns about the police corruption that happened within his best friend's family as Gene Hunt was only a child at the time.
