The first question Merlin asked himself when it came to protecting Camelot was always the same. If he could protect it with his magic, even if it would seem terrible to the people he cared the most about, should he? The answer was yes, always yes. But sometimes, the consequences are harder to deal with than the decision.

Merlin knew he had no time left. The Knights of Medhir were upon Camelot, and were right outside the door of the throne room. But what if he had never poisoned Morgana? Merlin had a tendency to say some strange things, but- "You," Merlin jutted his chin out obstinately, and jabbed a resolute finger at Arthur, "owe me a hug." -but this was by far the strangest.
