A What Happened Next for the season one episode By Force and Violence

It's 1857. Audra has just been born, early, while Tom is away on a business trip. Fourteen-year-old Jarrod is left to be surrogate father – and to deal with news that while Tom was heading home, his train derailed.

While working on a case for the State Land Commission, Jarrod deals with an old friend he knew from law school, but now the man has a serious drinking problem. Jarrod tries to find a way to handle the case but help his friend at the same time.

This is a Fan Fiction based off my favorite attorney from the show Big Valley.

AU Follows "To Prison" (rated M – adjust your filter if you want to read it). The title has a double meaning in this story of Jarrod's return home and recovery after three years in prison for his crimes at Rimfire.

Heath comes to some conclusions after a terrible accident. (Horrible name, but couldn't think of a better one and I'm terrible at summaries).

A bit of a gap filler from when Heath mistakenly shoots Vern Hickson, thinking he had drawn on him, to when Heath and Nick are taming the horse they bought.

A short, four chapter, AU and Non-cannon story. Also the subject of interracial marriage during the 1800's. Audra returns home after a twelve year absence wondering if her family will even let her stay as she left them over a decade ago to be with someone not of her race. Rating due to subject, NOT because of the writing itself. MIGHT be major character death.

An alternate universe, Heath-comes-to-the-Barkleys story with the whole family featured (no Eugene) but Heath and Jarrod playing the major roles. Some OCs and significant use of some characters from various episodes, plus use of series dialogue—although not necessarily by the same character, or in the same situation. Left to the reader to recognize those dialogues—or not.

AU – Follows Making a Rancher and Building an Empire. Jarrod and Nick have adjusted to each other and their roles in the Barkley empire after Tom's death, but now Heath's arrival upsets the apple cart one more time.
