With chapter 1 set roughly one year after the events of "My Captive Audience", JD feels good. Well, not good, but better. Not difficult to be much worse, admittedly, but... it's okay. Apart from the stuff that isn't okay. Obviously. Eventual smut and eventual JD/Cox. Slightly AU/non-canon JD (and sometimes Cox) as he's changed somewhat from the one we all know and love.

Dr. Cox's appendix ruptures and he is hospitalized in the hospital that he works for. Not only that but guess who is his doctor? JD is not happy to take care of a stubborn patient who does not care about healing. Dr. Cox's life is miserable, and he drinks a lot when off work. Will JD get through to the doctor who insults every move he makes? At least JD seems to think so.
