Josiah looked at Mandy with annoyance. "I do not intend to stand here and be lectured by a cat!" he decided huffily. "Then sit down," Mandy suggested. It's All Hallows Eve and strange things are happening.

"That damn cat belongs to Mosby?" he demanded. "I was cooped up with Mosby's cat!" "I don't see what you have against Mandy," Josiah evaded Call's angry look. "She's a sweet cat." Mattie and Enona exchanged quick glances. Enona's eyes were twinkling when she saw Call, Luther, and Mosby getting uncomfortable as the two other Wayne girls looked them up and down as though they were horses about to be auctioned off.

"You want me to what?" Luther looked at Austin in shock."Stand up with me at my wedding," Austin repeated. Luther shook his head as though struggling with his thoughts. "Me?" "Yeah," Austin nodded. "I figure you and Call are probably the only ones I can call my friends." LUther slowly grinned. "Hell, Austin, I'll do it just to see Call dressed up and in a church."

Mosby sighed heavily. "What in heaven's name, Amanda, makes you think I want to waltz with you?" he asked. "Because it will be interesting," Amanda teased. When Clay's mouth twitched, she grinned. "You know it will." "Interestin', Amanda, isn't exactly the word," Mosby shook his head as he escorted her to the dance floor.

"Hate to see Creese's work in patchin' you up bein' buried in the cemetery." "Thanks for caring," Austin snapped as he stood and left. "My pleasure," Call smiled as Austin slammed the door. Sequel to Beginnings.

Mosby smothered a grin as he saw Call's shoulders tense. "I truly do admire your forbearance, Sheriff Call. Goodnight." Call fought the urge to put a bullet right between Mosby's eyes.

Clay saw Luther, Call, and Austin slowly approaching. Both Call and Austin had hands on their guns but kept them holstered. He slowly walked back to the stage and glanced in. "Who is it?" Marie demanded. "The Almighty's version of providin'," he said weakly feeling his knees start to collapse. "I didn't realize the Almighty had such a poor sense of humor."

Captain Call is able to relax a little when peace finally finds its way back to the Hat Creek outfit. However he knows it more than likely won't last for long
