A young girl from the distant past, discovered on board of the USS Stargazer, attempts to piece together why she had been thrown forwards over 350 years into the future. From refugee from the distant past, to Starfleet Officer and Beyond. Part One of Three.

After the encounter at Farpoint, Jean-Luc ponders a little at the omen of their voyage as they are about to explore strange new worlds and to seek out new lifeforms and new civilisations.

The Enterprise comes to the aide of the badly damaged U.S.S. London and in the wreckage Riker finds a woman and a little girl who mistake him for someone else.

Will's reaction was the worst. I couldn't put my walls up fast enough, and they weren't strong enough to counter the depth of his emotion. I was taken aback by such a strong wave of jealousy and pain. I winced when he asked, "I don't mean to be insensitive, but who's the father?
