Horatio is visited by a mysterious young man in his cabin who calls himself the Guest. In a short while a tale unfolds that makes Hornblower reflect on his present and past relationships. This story is based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

Horatio and Archie stumble upon the perfect opportunity to share the night, but for Archie, finding the time for lovemaking is hardly half the battle. Horatio/Archie. Indie Husbands. M/M. Demisexual Horatio. TW: brief internalised homophobia, past sexual abuse, PTSD and internalised victim blaming.

Set during the book Hornblower and the Hotspur, but mainly a flashback to when Hornblower was ten. Written for in response to a prompt meme, this got too long for an LJ comment. References to physical bullying, and corporal punishment, both "off-screen"

Mariette was Horatio's first romantic involvement and as such her death resonated with him immensely. He would never forget her.

Horatio is a little nervous about his meeting with Pellew. A couple of missing/extended scenes from Loyalty.

Re-Upload. When Hornblower is near fatally wounded in battle at sea it throws the whole future of life on board the 'Indefatagable' into question. Will the young man survive? And just what is it that his friend Archie Kennedy and the ever present Captain Pellew can do to help save is life, when the future of the fleet is further compromised by a traitor on board?

Locked in a prison that used to be a hotel, in the middle of a war that's really more of a rebellion, and I'm missing half a leg. But we're going to escape anyway. I don't plan on dying here. Archie, off watch and bored, gets curious about Bush's first name.

Forced inaction had never suited Horatio - not when such a long road lay ahead and he alone could chart their path back to the Indy. Archie lived, and this prison could not hold them for long. It was only a matter of timing. Short series of Horatio character studies, set in HH3.
