In a world where Shinji and Asuka killed the EVAs in the SEELE attack on NERV, Shinji and his father reconcile and everyone else goes their separate ways. Four years later, after moving to Tokyo-02, Shinji is (again) alone with his father, as he is dealt with a comatose Rei, a potentially unforgiving Asuka away in Germany, and a busy and family-oriented Misato. Will things change?

We all know everything about what was seen and mentioned about Shinji's background, but what if we were deceived? What if everything Shinji knew about his relatives was a falsehood? What if...someone from a time before and after Second Impact...came for him and revealed to him the truth? What if...his real mother came for him after a lifetime of looking for him?

Children aren't meant to make up for our failures or absolve us of our sins. When the world becomes a painful place to reside in, children are often the first to suffer for the mistakes made by those before them. A young father loses his only child because of the arrogance of other relations, and as a result, he makes a choice with repercussions after repercussions for everyone.

A story depicting what happened outside the Evas; it outlines how Asuka/Shinji interactions changed under influence of Kyoko and Yui. It happens chronologically during chapters 5. and 6. of Two Souls.

The designers of the Evangelion neural interface had gone to some trouble to protect the pilot from being absorbed or mentally contaminated by the Evangelion. Unfortunately for Shinji and Asuka, the dual synchronization scenario was not considered.

"The boy will be named Shinji; the girl will be named Rei." What happens if the anime started the same way, but with Shinji and Rei as twins? This doesn't mean all will be smiles and giggles. While this isn't a fix-it fic that veers far away from canon, it'll subvert tropes, have some sweet moments, and match the tone of the show.

In a nondescript point in time of an unremarkable timeline, Shinji Ikari has his best day ever by letting go of his fake self. But one person's happiness is another's pain. Shinji x Kensuke (It makes more sense in context.)
