There's an accident at the mine and the town of New Bedford, most of whom work at the mine, rallies at the mine, unfortunately six men are killed and May Bailey who runs the mine must rally the town back.

After Leo's death, May finds herself trying to cope with her own grief, the grief of Maisey, and the fact that Maisey doesn't want to stay. May's memories overwhelm her along with a sense of a lost opportunity.

Leo has been back in New Bedford for a year and he and May had accepted everyone's match making attempts. Now Leo is proposing on a warm summer night. Grace may be thrilled, but what about Robert?

Hubert Bailey has returned home to New Bedford from seminary school, and he quickly finds himself falling a young woman who in many ways is the opposite of Hub, how they find love and keep their love going forms the rest of the story.

Leo has been back in New Bedford for a while and May and Leo are in a relationship. What is Grace's reaction when she catches them in a passionate embrace. What do May and Leo have to do to make Grace believe that they care for each other. May is suddenly on the receiving end of the interference in her life.

Leo is very ill and May realizes just how important he is to her and she hopes that she has a chance to tell him. She's tending to him and her emotions are overwhelming her.

Honey opens the door and meets four year old Ben. His mother had left him - in hopes that he would find a loving home. Max and Honey agree to adopt Ben; only if they couldn't locate his mother.
