Chapter 13
Harekit woke up in the middle of the territory, his paws aching and extreme dizziness blurring his vision.
The ground was sopping wet, leading to more aching. He got up with a groan, looking around. It was so early, the sun had barely begun to peak over the hill in Cliffclan's territory, leading to no birdsong. It was silent, and eerie. He stretched his claws, padding around. Every paw step felt like agony, but he wasn't going to lay there until he gets sent off to Cloudclan.
"Mintsnow? Driftkit? Brindlekit?" he called out the names of his mother and sisters, hoping they could hear him. "Are they looking for me? D-Did they give up on me?" He shouted their names louder. "Mintsnow! Driftkit! Brindlekit! Can you hear me!?" He listened closely, hoping he could at least hear their voices. "Anybody? Please?" He sat down, huffing and clawing at the mud.
He looked around once again, hoping for any sign of another cat. He decided to run in one direction, hoping to run into camp where he was safe. He almost instantly zipped out into the open, sunlight harsh, even with the rising sun. He saw a huge hill, and once he realized where he was a patrol ran over to him.
"Hey! Intruder!" a tom growled. Harekit flattened himself closer to the ground, too scared to communicate. A black she-cat growled back at the tom. "Stop. He's just a kit." She said sternly to the tom. The she-cat turned back towards Harekit. "Are you lost?" Harekit stood up a bit more, nodding. The black she-cat turned back towards the tom. "See, this is why we don't assume things." she growled. The tom looked down. "Sorry, Rosefrost." Harekit stood up normally again once Rosefrost looked back over at him. "You're a Branchclan kit, correct?" He nodded. "Yeah." Harekit looked at the cats again, just now realizing a golden tabby apprentice in the back. Once the tabby realized Harekit was looking at him, he turned away. Rosefrost blinked. "Don't mind Mothpaw, he's very grumpy." Harekit nodded. "Are you going to help me get home?" Rosefrost hesitated for a second before speaking. "I have an idea." She turned to Mothpaw. "Help this kit get home." Mothpaw growled. "Fine." Rosefrost turned around. "Good luck!"
Harekit looked at Mothpaw. "So I guess I have to actually introduce myself. I'm Mothpaw." Mothpaw meowed, somewhat friendlier now. Harekit blinked. "I'm Harekit." He mewed. Mothpaw sighed. "Ok, lets help you find your camp." Harekit turned to start walking towards the forest and looked behind to Mothpaw, except Mothpaw wasn't there. "Mothpaw?" Harekit looked around. He heard a voice from above. "Up here!" He looked up expecting to see Mothpaw in a tree, but saw them hovering in the air. "Wha-" Mothpaw sighed. "No time to explain, lets go."
