Naia's POV
I knew it was night time and that meant that Dr. Manning's shift would almost be over. I ached to tell her what happened but I just couldn't. I was getting ready to sleep when Dr. Manning knocked on my door.
"I thought I'd stop by before I leave." She said. She had her coat on and a bag with her.
Dr. Manning walked over to my bed and sat down at the side.
"Your siblings were sent back to the Samuals. When you're better, you will too." Dr. Manning said. Emotion lined her voice and it was easy to detect. I felt myself crush on the inside.
Dr. Manning smoothed back my hair and have me a kiss on the forehead.
"You take care, I'll be back tomorrow." She said and left.
I let what she had said sink in. Ellie would for sure get a beating tonight for calling an ambulance. Shane and Thomas would probably get beaten just for good measure. What would happen when I went home? What would they do to me?
I didn't realize how tiring today was until I let sleep overcome my body.
