Time: Continued From Last Chapter (Hell POV)
Hell looked around at the raging battlefield around him. He saw the huge Rock Giant, Burke, swat away Ice Giants as if they were pests and shrug off attacks like nothing. He witnessed Hummerterra, the dark phoenix, destroy an uncountable amount of Heaven's army with a beat of the bird's fiery wings. But what got Hell's attention the most was Rene's body falling as she was struck by one of Obsidius's powerful Destruction beams. The scene was completely shocking, and Hell had to find everything in his willpower not to breakdown over the loss of a close acquaintance.
But as Hell noted, not everything was going terribly for Midgard. He saw the combined efforts of the Titan's Sirter and Turi, along with the rest of the Muspellion army bring down the great nightmare serpent, Gretphuron. The fires and heat proving the deciding factor in the defeat of the Beast of Destruction. Hell took a mental note of this, deciding he would probably need to deploy the "Wall of Fire" strategy in his battle, especially since he was tasked with bringing down two beasts. Another victory for Midgard that Hell noted came from his fellow primordial, Hydros and his Ocean army against Redscaw, the city sized ape. Hell noted that the huge storm of water that was able to knock the huge ape over was a very effective strategy. And, while Hell knew his army did not have access to any sort of water abilities, he was still confident that their control over the Earth should at least partially make up for it.
Hell understood that the best way to achieve victory against two powerful enemies was to attack the weakest link first. And, as Hell gazed upon the two Beasts of Destruction he was up against: Bedforward, the terror raptor and Shigeru, the real lion king, the primordial of Hell had no doubt which beast was going to feel the fury of his powerful army. On one hand, you had an intelligent, mountain sized dinosaur with claws big enough the cut all the way into Hell. Not only that, but Bedforward was covered in thick armour like plates all over his body so hurting him would be unbelievably difficult. Then, on the other hand, you had a much smaller (but still the size of a small commercial plane) lion. Not as intelligent, still really dangerous but also much less than the raptor, and also no armour. Yep, the primordial thought decisively, the lion was about to feel the full force of Hell's army.
Hell turned to Umbra to explain his plan, "Umbra, you know the best way to defeat two enemies is to knock the weaker one off first, right?"
The Titan of the Underworld nodded in agreement.
"So," Hell continued, "I want to focus our firepower on Shigeru and just try to keep Bedforward at a distance right now."
Umbra looked concerned, "Are you sure we can keep that thing" he pointed at the terror raptor, "at bay long enough to finish off the lion?" he asked.
Hell sighed, "Well, we're gonna have to, if we want to win."
Umbra looked conflicted, "Ok. Let's give it a shot, Lord Hell."
And that's exactly what the combined army of Hell and the Underworld did. Give it a shot.
Large numbers of hard to kill ghouls and skeletons charged at Bedforward, with their primary objective not to kill the ridiculously huge dinosaur, but to distract it. And by the looks of things, they were doing a damn good job at just annoying Bedforward. The army of undead were running circles around the dinosaur's legs, occasionally throwing different types of projectile attacks to get the beast's attention. Due to Bedforward's immense size, he found it exceedingly difficult to land serious blows on the army and any type of minimal contact were not enough to kill the undead. Hell's plan of keeping the gigantic raptor at bay, was definitely succeeding so far.
All of the winged demons, supported by hordes of the remaining ghouls and skeletons in the army advanced their way towards Shigeru, and they were going to go straight for the throat. The demons began to generate colossal walls of hell fire, the objective being to trap the lion so it couldn't escape. The ghouls and skeletons unleashed torrents of projectiles to rain upon the lion, which wasn't really doing much, but oh well, it was better than nothing. However, despite the demons' best efforts, Shigeru was still finding a way to get out of his fiery cage and use his massive claws to destroy parts of the united Underground army.
Hell rubbed his hands in anticipation, looks like it was time for him and Umbra to join the battle. He turned to the younger immortal, "Let's help our troops out!" he commanded.
Umbra flashed him a grin, "I've been waiting for this." he exclaimed excitedly.
The young immortal had just as much spunk as him, Hell thought gleefully, "We're just gonna raise the temperature a couple notches for now."
Umbra nodded in understanding.
So, the two immortals of the Underworld and Hell began to focus their abilities of fire manipulation. Hell reached into the depths of Hell to feel his source of power and draw energy from it. He directed the energy into creating powerful walls of hellfire around the gargantuan lion. Beside him, he could tell that the Titan of the Underworld was doing the same.
The intended effect was instantaneous. The already powerful walls of fire had grown to almost double its original height and glowed with so much thermal energy that it almost appeared white. As Shigeru attempted to escape from his fiery prison, the lion's fur was immediately burned. The lion gave a yelp of pain, and when it realized it had been trapped, shot Hell and Umbra a hateful look.
Hell turned to his army of winged demons, "We have successfully trapped the lion." he announced loudly, "Knocking the lion off of his feet is our next directive. Focus your abilities on the earth and shake the ground out from under him!"
The demons seemed to definitely understand Hell's orders as almost instantly, the ground began to shake violently. The vibrations was so powerful, that even Hell and Umbra had to use an unprecedented amount of willpower to contain the earthquake to just one spot so the rest of the battling Midgardians weren't affected. Safe to say, it wasn't long before Shigeru succumbed to the power of the shaking and collapsed ungracefully on the ground.
Hell once again turned towards Umbra, "Let's finish this." he told the Titan of the Underworld.
Umbra pulled out his spear, "Let's do it!" he exclaimed, before charging at the trapped beast.
Hell shook his head at the younger immortal's eagerness, before pulling out his own trident and following Umbra into battle.
Both immortals began to charge up the coming from the strongest part of their domains: Darkness. Hell envied how powerful Vuton could be if the primordial of Darkness was able to use all the power from his domain. Anyway, Hell focused on the blackness and emptiness that darkness brought, he focused it into his trident. Then, with a powerful thrust of his weapon, projected all of the dark energy towards Shigeru.
When combined with Umbra's own stream of dark energy that burst out from the tip of his spear, the power was more than enough to finish the lion off. After an explosion consisting of a lot of black energy, a plethora of hellfire with bits of lion fur sprinkled in, it was over. Shigeru lay in a defeated heap, unmoving and had a cold lifeless expression upon his face.
Hell was happy at the victory, but knew there was more work that needed to be done. He turned to his army, "We had achieved victory over Shigeru. But that was only the first of two." he pointed at Bedforward, who was still trying to squash all the ghouls and skeletons pestering the raptor, "the defeat of the mountain sized dinosaur comes next."
And the united Underground army charged at Bedforward, ready to show the raptor what it felt like to be on the receiving end of Hell's fury.
(Galleem POV)
Galleem was frustrated. Why did he out of all the goddamned immortals be the one that would be commanding the Heavenly army with her. Of course by him, Galleem was referring to the ignorant Vuton, primordial of Darkness.
"Charge the dragon head on, and crush his soul!" Vuton called loudly.
Could he be any more stupid?! Was he trying to get all of them killed?! Actually, come to think of it, considering Galleem was part of the army, she wouldn't really be surprised if that was his actual plan.
"Has the darkness got to your brain?!" Galleem snapped loudly, "Look at that thing! Do you have a death wish?!"
Vuton, somehow had the nerve to look offended, "Well, Miss Light, " he sneered, "If you're so smart, what's your plan then?"
Galleem had to resist the urge to face palm. Literally anything she could come up with was going to be better than that.
"Well," Galleem announced loudly to the entire army, "We could flank the dragon, try to take out its wings and keep it grounded. Then we could work on slowly chipping away at it."
Vuton scoffed at this, "And you really suppose that that is going to work?" his voice held a prominent mocking tone.
Galleem narrowed her eyes, "It's way better than your idea, Vuton." she emphasized the venom she placed when saying her rival's name, "If you're so confident, why don't we ask the army?" she challenged.
Vuton nodded in agreement before he turned to the army, "Everyone, who's idea do you all want to go with. Mine or Her's" he asked loudly.
Galleem continued, "Everyone who wants to charge head on at the mountain sized dragon, make some noise!" she called with mock excitement.
Not a sound was heard from the Heavenly army.
Vuton then, in a very exasperated tone, said, "Everyone who wants to flank the dragon and take out its wings, I guess, make some noi-"
The primordial of Darkness's speech was cut short by the intense cheering from the listening army.
Galleem turned to her nemesis with a triumphant smirk, "Well, guess we know who's idea was better, don't we?" she said teasingly to the sulking figure of Vuton.
Vuton grumbled, "Fine, your idea was better. But we still gotta wait for Rene before we can begin. She is the 3rd general after all."
Galleem was about to reply in agreement but suddenly she heard a messenger angel approach them.
"Lady Galleem, Lord Vuton," the angel looked extremely distressed as he spoke, "Rene has been slain."
The shock took a moment to set in.
"What?!" Vuton spoke before Galleem could.
"The primordial of Love was killed a few minutes ago, my lords." The angel looked rightfully uncomfortable delivering this piece of news.
"H-how?" Galleem breathed in disbelief.
The angel sighed, evidently not wanting to deliver this piece of news, "She was struck directly by Obsidius's Destruction Beam."
Galleem felt a wave of surprise wash over her, "B-but that means…" she started
"She's not coming back." Vuton's hollow words rang like a curse in the open air of the Antathelus battlefield.
Galleem felt a lump in her throat, her heart tightened with the immense sadness that began to take over her system. She was angry, how-how dare Obsidius kill her friend?!
Vuton seemed equally as angry, "You are dismissed," he said to the angel through gritted teeth. Then to the rest of the army his voice held a tone of unwavering confidence, "Rene has fallen to the evil of destruction. This is no longer about defending Midgard. This is about avenging the fallen, avenging the honour of our friend who fell today. WE are going to kick this dragon back into space. And WE, are going to do it for Rene!"
And as the crowd cheered for the primordial of Darkness's speech, Galleem felt that she truly agreed with something Vuton said for the first time ever in their immortal existence together.
(Loki POV)
It was beginning to look helpless. No matter what the Jotrunion army seemed to throw at Burke, the rock Giant seemed to shrug it off and continue his purge of the Kingdom of Ice's soldiers. Even Loki, a powerful immortal in his own right, was finding it extremely difficult to even slightly slow down the skyscraper sized giant. It was getting to the point where Jade and the Healing Fairies were beginning to tire out from attempting to save so many Ice Giants from the brink of death.
"Lord Loki," an Ice Giant messenger called to the Titan, "Another Legion faces near extinction."
Loki sucked in his teeth. This was really bad, Jotrunion only had 7 legions left after this one. But, just as all hope was beginning to look lost, the sound of rushing waves and marching soldiers grabbed Loki's attention.
The Titan of Ice and Illusions turned to see the approaching might of a slightly damaged united Ocean Army, led by the primordial Hydros and Loki's own brother Oceanus.
"Onwards to Victory!" Oceanus shouted as the mer-people soldiers charged headfirst at Burke.
Loki jogged up to meet the Oceanic army leaders, "Come to join the party?" he quipped, flashing them a lopsided grin.
Hydros clapped him on the shoulder, "Friends have each other's back, nephew."
Loki was slightly shocked at the "nephew" comment, but knew it wasn't the time to mention it.
"Let's kick this guy's ass, brother." Oceanus said to him, his silver trident materializing in his hand.
Loki grinned, summoning a wave of illusion clones, "He won't know what the Hell hit him!" he laughed at his own crude joke.
Hydros summoned his own golden trident, which he proceeded to use to summon a jet stream of water. Loki hardened the water into a sharp icy point, and the three immortals propelled the makeshift javelin at Burke's thigh.
Fortunately, the icy javelin caused the desired effect as it pierced right through the tough rocky skin of the rock giant.
"AAAAARGH!" Burke cried out in pain, before pulling the spike out of his thigh and flinging it to the side. His single eye looked furiously around for his assailants and narrowed once they made eye contact with Loki, "You! You will pay, Flea!"
Burke clenched his fist and slammed it into the ground. The resulting earthquake was so strong that nearly everyone fighting on the battlefield fell to their knees. The poor earth even had 100 m deep cracks from the blow.
Burke growled, "Not all I can do, puny fleas!". His eye then started to glow a bright red before a bright red laser beam was fired at the immortals.
Instantly, Loki raised his sceptre, Hydros and Oceanus their tridents in an attempt to try and deflect the beam/defend themselves. Unfortunately, the beam's force was too strong, and the momentum sent all 3 immortals flying.
Loki landed painfully beside Hydros. He turned to the sea primordial, "Looks like this is going to be a whole lot harder than I thought…"
Hydros nodded in agreement, shaken up by the fall.
(Vuton POV)
So, despite Galleem's admittedly pretty decent plan, Murdoch was not going to go down easily. Actually, they hadn't even managed to draw blood from the great dragon yet, no matter what the Heavenly army seemed to throw at him.
One of Murdoch's head laughed deeply, "Is that all you've got?" he growled before breathing a wave of flames at a group of angels, burning their wings and dropping them out of the sky. "Pathetic" he snarled in mock disappointment at the pitiful effort Heaven was putting up.
Vuton took out his halberd, a weapon crafted to channel pure darkness. He turned reluctantly to his partner, "Galleem!" he called, "We have to get in the action. The dragon's refusing to goddamned die!"
Galleem, it seemed, was already prepared as she had her glowing sword out, "One step ahead of you, dark brain!" she teased him infuriatingly, before charging straight at Murdoch.
Vuton shook his head in exasperation before following her towards the dragon, his halberd glowing with dark energy.
The two primordials slashed and hacked at the seemingly eternally large body of the dragon, trying to focus all of their power through their blades. Despite this, it seemed that any meaningful damage dealt to Murdoch would be healed in mere seconds. This was a huge problem, Vuton thought, before an idea appeared in his head.
He turned to Galleem, who was relentlessly hacking with her sword, "The body is too big Galleem," he yelled above the roaring wind Murdoch's wings were generating, "We need to go for a weak point, we need to go for the head!"
Galleem looked hesitant, "That's where all his nasty abilities come from" she said nervously, "We would be risking our lives!"
Vuton shook his head in disagreement, "It's the only chance we got," he explained, "If we don't, Murdoch will destroy the world anyways!"
Galleem seemed to ponder this decision over.
Vuton sighed, "If you won't go, I'll do it alone!" he yelled, flying off.
Vuton's dark wings beat frantically as he flew towards Murdoch's terrifying 9 heads.
"The primordial of Darkness!" one of the head's hissed, "The fight has just begun. Are you ready to meet your doom so soon?!"
"No." Vuton retorted, "I have come to see yours, dragon!" he yelled defiantly, blasting the head with pure dark energy.
Surprisingly, the attack did significant damage to the dragon, blasting off the entire green-eyes head from Murdoch's body. The dragon roared in pain, it wasn't going to be able to regenerate from that kind of damage. Unfortunately, releasing such a powerful attack had taken a lot of energy from Vuton, and he felt himself begin to black out.
Out of his dizzy vision, he saw the glaring purple eyed head of Murdoch yell something about "dying" before unleashing a stream of glowing violet energy at him.
Just before it stuck him though, he saw the figure of a glowing angel intercept the beam to save his life. He knew Murdoch's purple beams could destroy an immortal after all.
And the last thing Vuton saw before he blacked out, was the falling figure of a burning Galleem that was rapidly losing her normal holy glow.
(Hydros POV)
It was the scream that got Hydros's attention. The scream of her. The terrified, 'I'm going to die' scream of Galleem. His head whipped around in the direction of the sound, and what he saw caused his heart to sink.
His angel was falling out of the sky!
No, this couldn't be happening! He knew that Galleem had been assigned to lead the Heavenly army into a devastating battle against Murdoch, a dragon who had access to immortality destroying abilities. He flashed over to her as quickly as possible.
He arrived at what happened to be just a couple moments after she hit the ground. He noticed Vuton land a few feet away, but the primordial of Darkness seemed to be relatively unscathed, so Hydros left him alone. Galleem on the other hand…
One of her usually pure white wings had been burned off, the charred stump looked like it was slowly decaying away. Her heavenly glow had dimmed significantly, and Hydros could get a good look at the state of her body. To put things in simple terms, the damage was horrific. Galleem's golden breastplate had been completely blown off in the chest area where she had been hit. Underneath the black hole, existed charred, rotting flesh. The sight was so gruesome, that Hydros had to force himself to tear his eyes away.
As he gazed into her pure white eyes, he noticed that the vibrant heavenly glow was slowly dimming. He felt tears prick the corners of his eyes, as Galleem slowly raised a hand to cup his face.
"W-Water Boy?" the primordial of Light asked uncertainly.
Hydros felt an unwarranted smile appear on his face in response to the affectionate nickname, "It's me, my angel." he whispered softly.
Galleem made a sound between a giggle and coughing for air, "M-my?" she questioned teasingly.
Somehow, despite the severity of the situation, the centuries old primordial of the Seas still felt a blush make his way on to his face, "Y-yeah.." he stuttered.
Galleem raised her eyebrow questioningly, "Y-yeah?..." she gently prodded.
"Galleem…" Hydros steeled himself, taking a deep breath in preparation for his next words, "I-I love you." he murmured softly.
He searched her eyes, which had widened considerably from the shock of the words. But, notably did not exhibit any signs of disgust or negativity, rather, it seemed, that perhaps some of their usual glow had returned. Suddenly, she began to speak, "I-I love you too, Water boy." she responded confidently.
Hydros felt his heart soar at her words, before grinning like a Cheshire cat, "Took me long enough, huh?" he said mischievously.
Galleem gave a beautiful smile at that, before her face suddenly turned serious, "I-I'm not going to make it, Water boy-" she started.
Hydros shook his head defiantly, "No!" he interjected, "Don't say that! We'll find a way," he began to sound frantic, "I need you, Galleem…" he pleaded.
Galleem looked at him with sadness, "Hydros. I want you to know that I love you, and I always hav-" she suddenly exploded in a fit of coughs, her eyes beginning to rapidly dim.
Hydros started to panic, "Galleem! Galleem!" he shook her shoulders in a 'snap out of it' way.
She turned to look at him, a small smile on his face, "I love you, Hydros…" she managed right before the light completely left her eyes.
Hydros was devastated. No. Devastated didn't show how he felt. He felt like the fucking world had collapsed right in front of his eyes. Despite this, he kept his composure, even as his heart broke into a million pieces inside of him.
"No." Hydros whispered to no one in particular as he felt silent tears stream down his face.
Sometime during his silent grieving, Hydros felt a reassuring hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Vuton, the unconscious primordial had awoken from his slumber.
Vuton flashed him a sad smile, "Come on Hydros, we have a war to win. Galleem will get a proper funeral later" he said seriously.
Hydros reluctantly followed him away from him angel. Vuton was right, Hydros decided, there was a war to win. A war where the enemy side had had cost him the love of his life…
And he was going to make them pay.
A/N Yes I know this took forever. I noticed no one was reading my story so I kinda couldn't be bothered lol. But yeah, I'm also on holiday, so sometimes I don't actually get enough time to write a full chapter. Anyway, leave a review please and thanks for reading.
