Chapter 14 : A happy ending and a little something to remember
5 years had passed...
What started out as a bunch of friends wanting to fight crime and help people turned into a group of heroes that the locals of San Fransokyo would look up to in times of need. Children would read comics written about the "Big hero 6", the news outlets constantly reporting on the latest crimes stopped by the team and Aunt Cass cheering them on the street as they fly around the city. Crime after crime, villain after villain they kept on going and things couldn't have been more prosperous.
But life never stays the same forever. Eventually people move on, they change and they become different people. As time went on and law enforcement became much more efficient with never technology and better training, crime in the city reduced significantly eventually arriving at a point where the gang wasn't required to put on their special costumes. They arrived at the conclusion that their help was no longer needed as the city was safer than ever before. So gang retired their superhero personas and returned to their regular lives as six best friends going to college, And things just returned to normal.
The citizens of San Fransokyo dedicated a special day just for the Big hero 6, every year they celebrate the group by having parades, inflating balloons shaped as Baymax, giving out free food and taking part in community service. It is a special day to remember what the group stood up for and that's the only time of the year that the gang would wear their special costumes. They were happy and content with what they had accomplished. They spread happiness throughout the city and inspired many in the process, to believe in what was right and to help those in need. Their names were immortalized by the city as the time passed on.
...
It was Christmas morning, Hiro was asleep as usual and Gogo was downstairs in kitchen with Aunt Cass cooking for the feast. Baymax was there as well, helping out with the cookies making sure that they were perfectly baked and also that nobody burns their tongue trying to eat them too soon. Over the years Gogo and Aunt Cass had become very close eventually Gogo would join in to help with work in the Cafe. Then at night once Hiro was asleep they both would watch a retro horror movie with Baymax and Mochi (the cat), occasionally getting frightened and screaming so loud that Hiro would come running down from his room to see if something had happened only to be pulled in and stuck between Aunt Cass and Gogo on the couch as they both grabbed onto him as the movie got more and more frightening. It was very hilarious but loving relationship between the three of them.
Eventually Hiro wakes up and climbs down the stairs, still half awake and looking like a bird caught in the rain. Aunt Cass was the first to notice Hiro.
"Look who's finally decided to wake up, if you slept for any longer we would have started the party without you"
"Ha ha... Very funny Aunt Cass" Hiro replied annoyingly.
"Morning bird brains. Did you sleep well ? Maybe wondered off into a dream and punched yourself in the face ?" Gogo asked jokingly.
"Punched my sel... why would I do that ?"
"I just figured that's probably something you'd dream of. Besides, you look awfully cute today"
Hiro could only be so annoyed in such a short time that he rolled his eyes and turned around to go back to his room and get cleaned up only to bump into Baymax.
"Good morning Hiro"
"Good morning Baymax"
"Would you like to try out a cookie ? I am unsure if they are ready for the guests"
"Sure why not" without hesitation Hiro bit into a cookie that Baymax had just taken out of the oven.
"Ohh... ho... that's... that's hot... ohh..."
"I must warn you that the cookies are extremely hot and must Not be consumed immediately"
"You should have... told that before I put it in my mouth..."
Aunt Cass and Gogo were laughing behind Hiro.
"Do you require my assistance ?" Baymax asked
"I'm fine, I'm just gonna... go back to my room"
Hiro started climbing up the stairs and went back to his room to get cleaned up while Aunt Cass and Gogo finished cooking the remaining food. Fred, Honey Lemon and Wasabi were on their way to the cafe to spend Christmas together. Hiro made it downstairs just in time as Aunt Cass and Gogo were setting the table. Once the table was set the three of them sat down in the cafe listening to the Christmas music playing on the radio while playing chess. Gogo and Hiro as one team and Aunt Cass and Baymax as the other.
"So Hiro what's your next move ?" Aunt Cass asked confidently
Gogo was in the zone, whispering the next moves to Hiro.
"take out the knight with the bishop"
"You sure ?"
"Yes!"
"Alright alright I'm moving" Hiro replies
Baymax takes a glance at the board and makes his move
"Check"
"What ?! How ?"
"Hey genius the game is still going, block him" Gogo said
"Alright"
Eventually after many attempts by Hiro and Gogo, it was Aunt Cass and Baymax who won the game twice in a row.
"That's unfair you know, Baymax is on your side" Hiro argued
"Well I'm not the one who chose the teams" Aunt Cass replied
"Here we again..."
It was then that someone rang the bell at the Cafe.
"We're here! Hiro open up!" Fred shouted.
"Fred Stop yelling what is wrong with you ?" Wasabi said
"What ? I'm just letting them know that we're here"
"Just knock on the door or ring a doorbell or something"
"Oh Ok" Fred rings the doorbell and knocks on the door
"We're here!"
Wasabi face-palmed and shook his head as Honey Lemon kept giggling at the hilarious scene that Fred is creating .
"Hey you guys" Aunt Cass opened the door and welcomed everyone in followed by Hiro and Gogo.
Fred walked in greeting Aunt Cass, Hiro and Gogo with the usual fist bump and then Wasabi and Honey Lemon walked in with a big hug to all three of them.
"Oh Hiro we missed you guys so much" Honey Lemon said emotionally.
"We missed you guys too" Gogo replied
"Yes! The team is back together.. . for one final time to stop the world from ending. Their first mission is to retrieve the ancient amulet from the..." Fred kept on talking.
"Fred ! I will laser hand you in the face if you don't stop talking" Wasabi said furiously.
"Wasabi just let him talk. Calm down" Honey Lemon said as she laughed and pulled Wasabi to a chair and sat him down.
"So what can I get to you guys & gals? There's eggnog and fruit punch" Aunt Cass asked.
"Whatever you think is best Aunt Cass" Wasabi replied as Honey Lemon sat next to him.
"So Hiro how are things between you and Gogo ?"
"What? Oh we're doing alright. Right Gogo?"
"Hiro still talks in his sleep sometimes" Gogo replied
"Ohh... that's so cute what does he say?" Honey Lemon asked
"I don't talk in my sleep!"
"Oh how would you know ? You're asleep. You would talk about how you would take me on a blimp to watch the sunset and then we'd go out to have ice cream and you'd get strawberry and I'd get blueberry. You go on and on for almost an hour sometimes" Gogo said as she laughed
"Guys I'm 19, not 14"
"We're just joking Hiro, don't be so gullible" Wasabi said as he took a glass of fruit punch from Aunt Cass.
"Wow this some really good stuff Cass" Fred said as he gulped the punch.
"There's more if you want. Just pour yourself another glass"
Everyone had drinks and spent some time talking and catching up. The cafe was adorned with Christmas ornaments, decorations and lights glowing brightly. After sometime everyone gathered at the table. Eventually they started dishing out the food and started eating.
"I propose a toast!" Gogo stood up and said
"We were just a couple of friends a few years ago... but it was because of one person that we became who we are today, and that person is Tadashi Hamada. He brought us together, he might not be here with us now but he will always live on in our hearts... So here's to Friends"
"Here's to family" Hiro raised his glass followed by Wasabi.
"To all the awesome adventures we've been thorough"
"To all the beautiful memories and hugs we shared" Honey Lemon said.
"And finally, to Aunt Cass, Baymax and these amazing sweet rolls" Fred said as he chomped into a sweet roll.
Cheers!...
Everyone had great time at dinner, afterwards there was even more fun things happening at the Cafe. Honey lemon and Fred sang Karaoke Christmas songs and eventually Aunt Cass joined in, Gogo and Wasabi had an arm wrestling match for some reason, then Hiro brought the VR headset he had in his room. Fred dug into it head first playing for the longest time while Aunt Cass and Honey Lemon freaked out at the VR zombies. The next game was charades, and of course Baymax wasn't really great at that. But regardless, Christmas was enjoyed thoroughly by everybody including Mochi. The Cafe was filled with laughter and joy as the sun set into the horizon. Aunt Cass made hot chocolate for the evening and the gang sat around the fireplace and kept on taking about past adventures. Gogo was resting herself on Hiro's shoulder as Fred played the ukulele.
Around 11PM was when Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred got up to leave.
"Ok then big man, guess we should be going. Take good care of your Aunt, and Gogo as well" Wasabi said.
"Of course I will, I'm the man in the house"
"No he's not" Gogo said jokingly
"Come here you guys" Honey Lemon brought everyone together for one last hug.
"We're gonna miss you guys a lot" Fred said.
"Hey we'll meet again soon it's not like we're meeting for the last time" Gogo replied.
"Of course we will, we'll always stay in touch" Wasabi said.
After that hug the three of them left Hiro and Gogo helped to clean up the cafe. Once everything was cleaned up Hiro put the dishes into the cupboard and was about to go to bed but Aunt Cass and Gogo was just about to start watching a movie and of course they weren't going watch it without Hiro. Even Baymax was sitting on the side of the couch. Hiro agreed so that the two of them wouldn't be screaming in the middle of the night. Mochi jumped up to Aunt Cass' lap and Gogo cuddled up with Hiro.
"Alright is everybody ready ?" Aunt Cass asked enthusiastically.
"Yup, start the movie!"
Aunt Cass started the movie and ran back to the couch. They started watching a really old movie that Aunt Cass really loved. Eventually they all fell asleep on the couch. Until Baymax carried them to bed one by one. Baymax checked around the cafe to make sure all the doors and windows were closed and then returned to his charging station and went into sleep mode.
...
Hiro and Gogo would remain Best friends for another few years until eventually Hiro finally asked Gogo the most important question of their lives. To which she replied..."Yes!". Aunt Cass gave her blessing to both of them and once they were married Gogo would spend even more time at the cafe helping Aunt Cass and Hiro would go on to invent more and more amazing tech, and the three of them would live happily ever after for many many years...
THE END
Author's note: If you read the whole story and if you enjoyed it, well.. Thank you. I started writing this fanfiction back in 2015 when I was 13 but I stopped after a few months because of other work. Eventually I lost track of it. But every now and then I'd still get an Email from the website notifying me that someone had favorited or followed or maybe even left a comment on this story that I wrote long ago. Apparently some people really enjoyed it. Although I must say that as a 13 year old I have written one heck of a fantasy that is cringey and excessively romantic at the same time. How I accomplished this at such a young age ? I have no idea. Even E.L James would be amazed by this. Regardless, the reason I came back 5 years later to finish the story is because I felt like so after I received another set of emails from fanfiction that a user has favourite and followed not only the story, but also my account. I figured it'll be a nice little Christmas gift for all the other couple of people who were probably extremely interested in the story. As of today this story has around 50,000 views which might not seem crazy but it is to me, so much has changed during the past 5 years and so have I. So while this final chapter might not have been extremely romantic, I wrote it in a way that made me feel good. It's not every day that you might happen to meet that special somebody, but some day you might meet somebody who might fill that dark void in your heart. I still haven't met that somebody, but I'm not really looking for one either. So the point of me saying this is if you ever feel lonely or unworthy of yourself, just stop thinking about it. The more you keep digging deeper into your sadness the harder it is to get out of it. A relationship isn't the answer to everything, sometimes all you need is a bunch of good people around you. More than everything it's important to put on a smile, help others, stop thinking about unnecessary things and just be yourself. If you ever think you've got it worse, you are completely wrong. There are always people in this world who are going through things much worse than a bad relationship or rejection from somebody you liked. I always thought of finding that special somebody when I was around 12-16 years old but as I grew older I stopped thinking about these things and focused on myself so that I could become better as a person and not give in to depression or other false feelings. This might be the least expecting place where you'd find advice like this, but these are all the things that helped me to get rid of depression. So my final message to whoever is reading this long story is Be yourself and do what you love, try new things, stop worrying about things you have no control over and always help those in need. You never know what you are capable of until you've tried as many things as you can and remember that the most important part of life is to love yourself before you love someone else.
Spread the happiness,
K.P.K.
