It was the next day, and Jack and Rose went to visit Jena again. She was asleep, so Jack had turned to leave. "Don't go," said Jena.

"Hey, I didn't mean to wake you," said Jack.

"You didn't," said Jena. "I haven't been sleeping so well. Especially since I'm having surgery today."

"You didn't tell me you were having surgery," said Jack. "What for?"

"They're going to take out the part of my liver that has cancer," said Jena. "I'm not allowed to eat before surgery, so I'm absolutely starving."

"I'm sorry," said Rose. "That's awful."

"Whatever, it's not as bad as the fact that I can't dance. Since I'm too sick."

"You dance?" Rose asked.

"Yes I do. I've danced since I was three." Jena pointed to Jack. "And Jack used to be my dance partner."

"Oh, Jena," said Jack. "That ship has long sailed."

Rose smiled. "Jack used to dance? What kind of dance?"

"Mostly contemporary. We used to compete together and everything," said Jena.

"We always won first place, didn't we?" Jack said, smiling.

"Yes, we did," said Jena. The doctor walked into the room and wheeled her away to surgery.

Jack stopped them. He gave Jena a hug. "Good luck, Jen," he whispered in her ear. "I love you."

"I love you, Jackie." She had herself pulled up next to Rose. "Do me a favor, take care of him?"

"Of course," said Rose, touching Jena's hand. "But you'll be able to do it yourself when you get out of here."

Jena frowned. "You really think that I'm going to be here long enough to do that?"

Rose looked at Jena with absolute confidence. "Yes, I really do."

Jena smiled as she was wheeled away. "Now I guess we wait," Jack said as he put his arm around Rose's waist.

They sat in the waiting room with Alex while Jena was in surgery. "How much does Mia know about what's going on?" Rose asked.

"She knows her mom is sick, she just doesn't know how bad it is, or the details of it all," Alex explained. "It's not fair. She's a three year old. She should be doing normal childhood things. She shouldn't have to worry about Jena." Alex rubbed his forehead. He was obviously tense.

"Listen, I don't really know how long Jack and I are going to be here, but as long as we are, we'd be happy to watch Mia for you. For as long as you need," said Rose.

"Thanks, Rose. That's really nice of you."

Finally, the doctor came out to give everyone an update. "Jena's doing well. She's back in her room and unconscious, but you can go see her now."

Jack, Rose, and Alex went into Jena's hospital room. Jena was just waking up. The doctor came back in to talk about Jena's surgery.

"We got the whole tumor. All of it," said the doctor.

Jack smiled. "That's amazing. So she's cancer free now?"

"Well, we don't call anyone cancer free until there's no sign of cancer for five years. She also will need to have new x-rays every two months. But for now, there is no cancer." The doctor then excused himself and left.

"I guess Rose was right." Everyone turned to find Jena awake. She took Rose's hand. "Thank you."

"I didn't do this," said Rose. "You did."

"I have to be honest," said Jena. "I wasn't so sure about you at first, but I've changed my mind. You're perfect for my brother. And I can tell you love him, and he loves you."

"I do. I promise." Rose tried to reassure her.

"Don't worry. I believe you."
