Bella groaned as she typed out the report. Her legs were killing her. This morning, she, her father and Jared got up for their morning run. Then after that was breakfast and after that work, which she was obviously doing now. With the summertime approaching, many crimes had taken place, most of them were small and petty theft's but some were more serious and with crimes comes paperwork and it was up to Bella to review them. The cops of forks had been busy all morning and she could see the stress especially on her father. While the crimes were small and petty it didn't mean they didn't have an impact on the community. There were also numerous complaints and if it continued, they would have to have a community meeting.

"Hey Bella! I got another stack of reports for you. "Deputy mark greeted as he handed her the stack of papers.

"hey, deputy mark. Just put them in my mailbox I'll get to them. How's Mrs. mark? And the baby?"

"both of them are doing great! Thanks for asking Bella." Deputy mark replied as he leaned over the desk to smile at her.

Bella smiled back and said "no problem and actually I have something for the both of you. Its nothing special just some leftovers. I'm sure you're both too exhausted to cook to sometimes."

With that said Bella pulled out two lasagnas from the huge bag, she had carried in this morning.

"whoa! Bella that is so sweet of you. Thank you, sweetheart. You're a gem. Charlie sure is lucky to have a daughter like you."

Bella nodded and watched him carry the lasagna's away, with that done, Bella finished up processing and reviewing the reports.

Jared smiled as Ms. Deborah, the owner of the fork's library and cafe handed him his badge along with a special key that unlocked both the café and the library.

"I'm so happy to have you here Jared! I have been looking for someone to help me for a long time, but it never works out. I once thought my very own children and grandchildren would be here to help me, but they all moved out of state and completely despise books, so it didn't work out."

"I'm happy to be here ma'am. I love books and I think having a café connected to it is a great idea." Jared complimented.

Ms. Deborah smiled stating "it's so good to see a young person with an interest in books, especially a sweet young man like you."

Jared nodded. This was exciting. His first job. He had never worked an actual payroll job before. Mainly because he was either stuck watching his younger siblings or pack duties. Well before he phased, he was babysitting his siblings and taking care of the house while his parents worked but once he phased that all changed.

The pack became his whole world and his family put on the back burner. The goal he had was keeping the tribe safe, being a part of the pack, being Sam's Beta and trying not rip people heads off with his anger and then one day in school. His eyes met hers, and nothing else mattered.

His obligation to the pack was divided, because what she wanted mattered most.

What she desired held him to this earth, the very yearnings of her soul became his obligation in life. To please her. nothing else…and then she left. All the devotion, passion and commitment he gave to her was just thrown away.

And here came the pain. It felt like knives shooting into his heart. It hadn't been as bad as before. It kind of turned into a dull ache but when his thought ran deep enough, the pain and the reminder of her would make his body catch on fire from the inside out.

No, no no I can't panic here. Not in front of Ms. Deborah, not at my new job. Something I can finally call my own.

Jared was glad Ms. Deborah had turned around so she couldn't see him collapse in the chair with his hand over his heart.

No, come on think of something… of someone… Wolf, we can't break down like this. …we need…we need...Bella!

Yeah, yeah that's it…think of Bella. Come on wolf…I know she's not ...her but she's treated us even better. She gives us intimacy. She cares…She talks to us and she's not afraid.

It took a minute, but it worked. Jared was able to calm himself and his wolf within a matter of minutes, it was a good sign, but he couldn't keep having these attacks. He needed help. He would have to go see old quil and soon. However before Jared could make his next move, he felt a strange thing happen. He felt a strange vibration move from his feet to his head. His wolf was up and alert.

"Its our chabelita…something's wrong."

Bella yawned as she passed on fresh coffee to the cops at their desk, she was just getting ready to go on lunch break when Deputy mark jumped up from his desk. His radio was going off and he was looking dead at Bella. his face pale.

"Bella…sweetheart, we have to go ...there's been an accident."

The car ride to forks hospital was anxiety-inducing. Mark wouldn't tell her what happened, but he looked pretty shaken up. Bella feared the worst.

As soon as they pulled up, mark rushed her in were some other officers were around the nurses' desk. It was chaotic. There were people everywhere. Some in chairs covered in blood. nurses were running around.

Bella could feel the panic set in.

"mark what's going on? Tell me!?" she begged

Mark turned from the nurse's station and said "your fathers been shot…no one knows the details. It all happened so fast. All we know is that the shooter is dead and your father saved a bunch of people's lives. I'm sorry Bella that's all I can tell you."

Bella's chest began to constrict. She couldn't breathe. Her father. Shot. Saved lives. No other information.

The room was starting to spin and just as she was about to go under she heard a voice.

"chabelita. Chabelita don't you dare pass out on me."

Bella's eyes opened to see Jared's silver ones.

"Jared?" she questioned

"yeah. I'm here. Were hear. Its going to be ok. Now, lets find out how Charlie is."

"you right. Your right. Thank you Jared." She told him as they approached the nurses' desk that was overwhelmed with people.

"excuse me." Bella spoke.

"look I'm sorry there a lot going on and ill get to you when I can." The nurse hissed

Bella felt a fire strike up her spine as the nurse dismissed her. she felt Jared stroke her back, a sign for her to calm down.

"I understand you have a lot going on ma'am but I need to know the status of my father Chief Charlie's swan. I am his daughter."

The nurse's eyes bugged out of her head.

"oh…oh my god...i sorry I didn't know. You can head down to the icu. The nurse will be able to help you there."

Bella trembled. I.C.U. That meant it had to be serious. She waved down Deputy mark and let him know where'd she'd be.

Jared did not let go of Bella's waist. He kept her next to him at all times, which she didn't mind at all because if he did, she would surely fall over.

Just as they were getting to the ICU doors, they past the ICU lobby and a familiar and yet shocked voice called out to the couple.

"…Jared?"

Jared turned to see who called him and his face paled.

Standing in the lobby was his mother , his sisters and next to her was Billy black, Sam Uley, Jacob black and Paul lahote. He saw Emily holding unto his mothers trembling hand.

What was going on?

And at that same moment a voice like bells called out to Bella.

"Bella?"

Bella turned towards the voice to see a shocked looking carsile.

With everything going on, Bella had completely forgot her running into the Cullen family.

No one said a word on neither sides and as if god heard the couples silent prayers, a nurse came jogging out of the ICU.

"Bella swan. We need you. Your fathers going to need a blood transfusion."

Bella's needs buckled but Jared caught her.

"come on chabelita…we can ..you can do this."

And just as Jared was going into the ICU, he heard his mother say "how could he just ignore us like that? Doesn't he know Raven's in the hospital!"
