(Petalburg Woods, 11:45AM, May's POV)

As we walk around Petalburg Woods, JoJo asks, "So, this is Petalburg Woods, huh?"

"Yep! It is!" I said while leading us and holding the map, "This area is popular, especially for Bug-Type trainers for it's abundance of Bug Pokemon"

JoJo crosses her arms and asks, "What does abundance mean anyway?"

"Yeah, what does it mean, May?" Darrith asked while he and Lucy crossed their arms as well.

I sighed at them, being disappointed at their lack of vocabulary, "Abundance means a large amount of something"

JoJo jumped and hid behind Darrith, "Y-you mean t-there's a ton of Bug Pokemon here?" she asked with a fearful frown.

"A fuck ton" I said with a smug look.

While walking in the forest, we see a kid, who looked way younger than we were. He was wearing a straw hat and was holding a bug net.

JoJo and I quickly covered our eyes the moment we see the kid.

(Darrith's POV)

"Hey, why are you guys covering your eyes?" I asked

I stared at the kid as we walked to his right. Once we locked eyes, his eyes widened and ran towards me.

"We made eye contact!" he yelled, pulling out a Pokéball, "Let's battle!"

"Oh, hell yeah!" I yelled back, looking at Lucy and giving her a high-five, well, more like a high-one since her 'hand' is only a stub.

(Reader's POV)

After setting up the arena, which was just a huge square drawn with a stick on the ground, the youbg bug catcher throws his Pokéball in the air.

"Go, Silcoon!" he yelled as a white cocoon with red eyes appear before everyone.

Darrith, who had little experience with Pokémon training, tries to send out Lucy to fight the cocoon Pokémon, but May stops him before he could get a chance.

"I don't think Lucy is the right choice here" May said, putting her hand on Darrith's shoulder. "Lucy's only offensive attack is Confusion, which is a Psychic move."

They look at the Silcoon, "and that thing is a Bug-Type, and Psychic is weak to them, so it's best to use Raye since she's a Fire-Type" she said

Darrith, taking her advice, pulls out a Pokéball and threw it in the air, Raye appearing out of it.

"Alright, Raye! Give it all you got!' He said, the chick Pokémon letting out a small flame from it's beak.

The battle begins and the kid makes the first move, "Silcoon, use Harden!" he said. The cocoon Pokémon followed it's trainers orders and hardened itself.

"Raye, use Ember!" Darrith ordered. Raye releases a flame from her beak that spreads across the Silcoon's body, burning it, but once the flame goes out, the Silcoon looked fine.

"Ha! Now, Silcoon, use Hardened!" The boy ordered. The cocoon Pokémon hardened itself again.

"That's gonna be the only move you're gonna use, huh? Welp, I guess I'll just keep using Ember then! Raye, Ember!" He order as Raye shoots out fire from her beak, hitting the Silcoon.

"Looks like we'll be here all day" said the two girls watching them at the same time.

(Lucy's POV, 3:00PM)

As Raye shoots the last bit of Ember she has, it hit the Silcoon, knocking it out along with her due to exhaustion.

The kid returns the Silcoon back to its ball and walks up to Darrith. He gives him some money and said "Wow! You're a reallt great trainer! I hope to be like you someday!" before walking away.

"What a nice kid" May said, looking at the boy as he disappears in the forest

"Well guys, let's continue on our journey!" Darrith said, walking at the opposited direction of where the kid was heading.

Feeling tired, I nuzzled against his cheek, hugging him.

"Aww... You two look so cute together!" The girls said, giggling.

Darrith and I blushed a bit, his face was a deep red while mine was a deep green. I let go of him and pouted at the girls.

"Come on, Lucy, it was just a joke" May said, scratching the back of her head.

"Yeah, don't be angry, Lucy!" JoJo said, giggling a little

We walked further down the forest, we hear a man crying for help in the distance

"That sounds like a cry for help!" Darrith said, running towards the cries

"Well, duh!" JoJo said as the two girls follow us to who is making those cries

Then, we saw a man wearing a green suit holding a briefcase surrounded by men wearing what seems to be dark blue pirate attire.

"Hey! Who are you guys?!" Darrith yelled, calling the attention of the three men
