Chapter Thirteen-Court
Reanna thought about all the things she had done wrong in her life. Of course, she had no power over what was going to happen. She heard footsteps and sat up to see who it was.
"Your kids will have to go to court," said a policeman to their parents. Elliot looked at his mom. She was a lawyer.
"Don't look at me, this is your problem," said Mrs. Fletcher.
"Mom! You're a lawyer! C'mon pleeeaasseee?" Begged Elliot.
"Fine."
"All rise,"
The four were all sitting at a table in the front of the courthouse, With Mrs. Fletcher. Everyone stood up, as the judge entered the room and took his seat. The judge spout out some words, and everyone sat down again. Elliot didn't really pay any attention. There were three people at the other table, that looked like the manager of the restaurant they were in, the waitress, and the lawyer. The judge spoke to the lawyers, and Mrs. Fletcher "presented the case".
"I believe these children are innocent. No child would commit fraud. blah blah blah," Elliot was zoning out and honestly didn't care. Reanna was on the verge of tears because she knew it would be blamed on her. The other lawyer spoke to the judge.
"Fraud is illegal. Blah blah blah," Basic facts everyone knew. The judge called up the waitress as a witness.
"Explain to me what you remember," he asked.
"Well, I was walking up to the group, and they were saying something about being broke. Then one of them said, 'You should pay because you can duplicate money'. Then I called the police," Said the waitress.
"I see. Will Reanna Wright come to the stand?" said the judge. Reanna walked up to the stand and sat down. "Your semblance is duplication, correct?"
"Yes sir," said Reanna hesitantly.
"Did you, or did you not duplicate your money?" He asked.
"I did not," said Reanna.
"Who was it who suggested you duplicate?"
Reanna paused. She looked at Owen, who nodded. "Owen Arc, sir,"
"Owen, come up to the stand," Owen took Reanna's place, "You suggested she duplicate Lien?" Asked the judge.
"Yes," replied Owen.
"Why?"
"It was a joke, sir," said Owen.
"Hm," The judge looked through the papers. "The money isn't fake."
Owen returned to his seat, and the talking went on for an hour or two, while Elliot did whatever he wanted. The other three were paying attention, and listening to what was going on. Finally, Elliot was able to stand up and walk around.
"So, why are we out here? Is it over yet?" Elliot asked Owen.
"The judge is talking with the jury. They're making a decision," Owen said.
"Oh okay... Is there any food?" Elliot asked. Owen glared at him. 'geez,' thought Elliot.
A few minutes later he was sitting back down at the table.
"The jury has helped me make a decision," announced the judge. "These children are innocent, case closed."
The team celebrated on their way home and went to bed. It had been a long day at the courthouse and needed rest, and they all fell asleep instantly.
