"No," Laser said in a whisper.
"Huh?" Professor Venomous said taken back as he sat in his computer chair with the shambles of Boxmore around him. Fink backed away from the hero as she felt situation intensify.
"I said no," Laser said in a stern voice as he looked to his brother.
"I already made a mistake once with you and look what it has cost me!," Laser said and his voice raised with anger. He felt his skin boil at the thought of all he had lost. Carol. K.O. He never got to be the dad he wanted to be. He had missed everything stuck in some other dimension frozen in time as the world went on without him! And, it was his fault and his brother's fault! What good was power if you had no one to love and protect!
Laser walked towards his brother with finality in his eyes and his arms radiated with purple electricity. Venomous's eyes widened and he stood up from his chair violently.
"Stop," He commanded towards Laser but his brother inched closer.
"It's time that this ended," Laser said and he put his fist to the ground, generating a bubble of static energy. Fink ran quickly to the edge of the doorway to avoid the bubble.
"No!" Venomous shouted as he grabbed for the vial of orbs to try and escape but it was too late. His leg was caught in the field. He looked rapidly around the room and saw Fink out of the corner of his eye. He threw the orbs towards her and she caught the caustic vial.
"Run!" Venomous shouted as the force field of purple static sucked the energy from his body. He fell to the ground in a purple heap. Laser felt his veins uptake the power and energy from his brother and he looked to Fink quickly.
"Boss!" Fink cried with tears in her eyes. She hugged the vial of orbs and Laser put out his hand slowly.
"Give them to me. I don't want to hurt you," Laser said with emotional exhaustion in his eyes even though his body felt wonderful. .
"Never!" She screamed to the man and started to scurry towards the door. Laser closed his eyes and summoned the remaining power he had.
He created a large force field that grew quickly and captured Fink and the vial of orbs in it.
The orbs turned a dull grey and Fink fell to the floor as she let out a groan.
Finally, the remnants of the experiment Laser and Venomous had started so many years ago was over. And, it should have been a relief to Laser but it wasn't. Something still nagged at him.
Laser felt powerful as he often did after draining the powers from others but he did not feel happy in the slightest as he looked towards his unconscious brother and his unconscious henchman.
Laser sighed and made his way out of Box-more's labyrinth halls and towards Carol's car. He pulled out the keys from his pocket and started the vehicle. He looked into the rear-view mirror and saw his eyes reflected back at himself. Maybe now he could finally be the man he wanted to be but he felt self doubt. Maybe he would never be a true hero.
As these thoughts plagued his mind, he wasn't sure where to go anymore and simply drove around in Carol's car until sunrise.
