Twenty Truths Of Yoshino Nara

1)Yoshino may no longer be on active duty but make no mistake she is a kunoichi. She still holds the rank of chunin.
2)Most people think Yoshino is impatient. But it's the exact opposite. She needs to be able to be patient to put up with her husband and son. However, she can be loud and pushy, and she knows many take this for being impatient.
3)Yoshino met her husband when she was twelve and was on a joint mission with his team. He immediately drove her crazy. The mission was a simple escort one, but she was a genin eager to prove herself on her first mission out of the village and he was a fourteen-year-old chunin who thought he was too smart to have to deal with people. Yoshino lasted two days before her temper got the better of her and she punched him for implying he was stuck babysitting a bunch of dumb kids. Strangely, this was the start of their friendship.
4)Yoshino is close to Shikaku's teammates and their wives. They all have a weekly dinner where the wives like to complain, or rather 'discuss' their husband's and kid's.
5) Yoshino loves her son's teammates. She also knows all their embarrassing stories. It helps when you've known them since they were in diapers and are friends with their mothers.
6) Choji and Ino call Yoshino 'aunty' and even as a woman with a grandchild does this make her happy.
7) Yoshino was unsure of Temari at first. She knew her son loved her and that she was a strong, intelligent, good women that was a perfect match for her son. But she was from a different village and Yoshino is from a generation where inter-village marriages very rarely happened between shinobi, even allied nations. Thankfully, Yoshino was a mature woman who never let her concerns show and within two months of getting to see Temari on a weekly basis the worries left. In fact, Yoshino even let Temari know all the tricks she had discovered to get Shikamaru to motivate. She also told her ones she used on her husband that as a mother she couldn't use on her son.
8) Yoshino adores her grandson. Especially because she doesn't have to worry about motivating another kid just like Shikamaru. That's Temari's job and she does it fantastically.
9) Yoshino has also gotten to know Choji and Ino's children and spouses quiet well from all the ino-shika-cho dinners. It was nice seeing that the ino-shika-cho team was continuing even two generations after her husbands.
10) Yoshino and her husband debated about her joining the allied forces, but it was decided that since it's been awhile since she was on active on duty she would be one of the shinobi who stayed behind to guard Konoha and the children of her clan.
11) Yoshino had never regretted her decision to retire from active duty until the moment she saw both her husband and son walking away to go participate in a war that seemed hopeless to most. She had never felt that hopeless or weak than in she did in that moment.
12) Yoshino has never told anyone, not even her son, but she swears she felt it the moment Shikaku died. She had been doing rounds and checking on her clan when she had suddenly felt cold and dread. She didn't know what, but she knew that something bad happened. And when she saw her son walking home without Shikaku by his side she knew.
13) It was the moment that Yoshino saw Shikamaru return without her husband that you could feel such relief and yet such heartbreak at the same time. Her son was home and, in her arms, again but she would never touch or see her husband again.
14) Even though Yoshino wasn't born to the Nara clan she ran the clan from the end of the war until Shikamaru turned eighteen so he would have time to learn the ropes of running an entire clan.
15) Yoshino worked hard not to cry in front of Shikamaru, especially over Shikaku's death. In part this was because she didn't want to burden her son, but it was also because she knew he became highly uncomfortable when people cry because he never knew what to say.
16) When she first saw Shikamaru with his goatee she had to do a double take. He looked so much like his father with only Shikaku's scars missing.
17) Yoshino was so proud of her son when he became the jonin commander of Konoha. She knew her son had the talent for it, but she was unsure if he had the drive but seeing him go for it and really commit made her so proud.
18) Even though Yoshino had never learned the Nara clan technique's she understood the mechanics well enough to be able to help her son through some of his struggles.
19) When her grandson got in trouble with his parents he would often come to Yoshino's house. Most of it is probably because she spoils him, but she would like to think that it's also because he loves her.
20) Shikaku may have been the one to help Shikamaru with most of his training but when it came to his nature releases that was all Yoshino. Especially his earth release. For all his brilliance Shikaku had never mastered any nature release but fire unlike Yoshino who had mastered both her earth and secondary fire release.
I know Yoshino is a very minor character, but I love her and just had to write her. I also had to make her badass cause that's how I see her so i hope you don't mind.
